Our Spring 2026 Winlock Historical Museum newsletter just went out to our members, and we thought we’d share it with the community as well.

This issue includes a story about how the railroad helped build Winlock — written by our own board member, Lesa Givens — along with historic photos from the museum archives.

If you enjoy learning about the history of our town, consider becoming a member of the Winlock Historical Museum. Membership helps us preserve and share these stories for future generations.

Annual memberships start at just $25.

📍Museum hours: Wed, Thu & Sat • 11–2

Winlock didn’t just grow beside the railroad… it was built because of it.

The museum will be closed this Saturday, December 6th due to a shortage of volunteers.

📣 Museum Notice: Temporary Closure

The Winlock Historical Museum will be closed from October 29 through November 19. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s understanding.

🎃 However — we will still be handing out candy on Halloween night (October 31st)! So be sure to stop by and say hello while you’re out trick-or-treating.

As many of you know, our museum is run entirely by volunteers — and lately, we’ve been short-handed. When a few of our regulars can’t make it, we don’t always have enough coverage to stay open.

If you love Winlock’s history and could spare even one or two days a month for a few hours, we’d love to have you join our volunteer team. No prior experience needed — just a friendly attitude and a love for our community’s story.

💌 Message us here on Facebook or stop by once we reopen to learn more.

Together, we can help keep Winlock’s history alive (and sweet)! 🍬

❤️💛 Winlock Homecoming — 50 Years Ago! (1975)

From the Lewis County News, November 6, 1975:

“Congratulations go to Dennis Anderson, left, as he is named 1975 Homecoming King during halftime ceremonies of the Winlock–Toledo football game. A few minutes later, Pam Ramsdell, left, front row, was named Homecoming Queen.”

It’s hard to believe this was 50 years ago! The uniforms, the hair, the smiles — Winlock pride never goes out of style.

📦 A Sunday Success Story!

When a community comes together, there’s nothing we can’t do! 💪

Today, a beautiful display cabinet — donated by Ray Watson & Lesa Givens — found its new home upstairs at the Winlock Historical Museum. Getting it there took a true team effort! Huge thanks to Jacob Trodahl, Ray Watson, Tommy Thompson, Ricky Thompson, and Brandon Korpi for giving up part of their Sunday to make it happen.

This is what small-town teamwork looks like — neighbors lending hands, history being preserved, and pride in every lift! ❤️

❄️ Winlock Historical Museum Winter Hours ❄️

Effective immediately, our winter hours are:
📅 Wednesdays and Saturdays
🕚 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Please note that openings are subject to volunteer availability — there are times when scheduling conflicts arise, and if we don’t have a volunteer available, the museum may need to remain closed that day.

We’re currently seeking a few more friendly faces from the community to help keep Winlock’s history alive and accessible! Even one day a month of volunteering (just three hours) makes a big difference and helps ensure our doors stay open for visitors, families, and anyone who wants to experience the rich story of our town.

If you love local history and want to get involved — whether it’s greeting guests, organizing displays, or sharing stories — we’d love to have you on board. Please send a PM or call/Text our president, Tommy Thompson: (Three Six O) 880-8668.
