One of the strongest moments from opening night was watching visitors spend time with the works before attempting to wear them.

There was hesitation. Curiosity. Attention to weight, surface, and construction.

That transition — from viewing an object to negotiating it physically — sits at the centre of RE_FLEKT and Double J Collective’s ongoing engagement with wearable art as a lived and embodied practice.

“A piece is rarely complete when it is merely observed.”

Throughout opening night, visitors moved constantly between looking at the works and physically trying them on. Rings shifted hands. Structures changed position. Objects that initially appeared rigid became unexpectedly personal once worn.
For Armin, this transformation is central to the work itself. The body is not secondary to the object. It completes it.

Empty plinths. Measured walls. Pieces finding their place.

This exhibition is built around proximity. What may initially appear rigid or industrial begins to shift — through movement, reflection, and interaction with the body.

This is what happens before the opening. The quiet work behind the experience.

RE_FLEKT is taking shape.

Some works take years to become what they need to be.
The Individuals is an ongoing series, developed since 2022 — built from an enduring obsession with cubic form. Highly technical, time intensive, intricately detailed. And interactive.
A ring that is never quite finished being discovered.

Luminescent Corals
Marita Setas Ferro

Light in the deep.
Darkness interrupted by colour.

Luminescent Corals draws from the ocean’s
furthest depths — where corals glow against
darkness, points of light in an otherwise
unseen world.

Constructed through layered knitting and
crochet, the work reinterprets marine
formations through textile — wool, acrylic,
polyester, and metallic elements building
a form that is at once familiar and
completely unexpected.

These techniques are deeply traditional.
Yet the way they are applied creates
an immediate confrontation — between
the known and the new, between touch
and vision, between tradition and
the innovation of form.

Part of The Echoes of Things from Nature,
an ongoing investigation into material,
ecology, and transformation — begun in 2016.

Textile Sculpture — wool, acrylic, polyester,
polyamide yarns, recycled polyester padding,
metallic upcycling rings and LED lights
180 × 90 cm — 2024

✦ Marita will be presenting her solo project
The Echoes of Things from Nature at
Personal Structures: Confluences,
European Cultural Centre, Venice Biennale
2026 — 9 May to 22 November.
Supported by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.

What draws you in first —
the light, the texture, or the depth?

Fading Luminescent Corals
Marita Setas Ferro

Light begins to recede.
What was vibrant now softens.

Fading Luminescent Corals captures a moment
of transition — where luminosity fades but
does not disappear entirely. It lingers
within the surface, subtle and restrained.

Constructed through layered textile processes,
the form holds both movement and fragility.
Its structure suggests expansion and withdrawal
at once — echoing the rhythms of natural
systems under pressure.

Rather than presenting nature as static,
this work reflects its vulnerability.
It speaks to cycles that are often unseen —
where transformation occurs gradually,
quietly, and irreversibly.

beautiful slowly changing?
