Founded in 1985, M16 Artspace is an inclusive organisation that supports a thriving arts community of emerging and established artists, writers and curators of any age, background or culture. We present high-quality exhibitions from both emerging and established artists and curators from Canberra, interstate and overseas. We are partially supported by the ACT Government for our gallery program. To

📣 M16 Artspace is excited to be accepting EOI's for Bespoke Utopia, an exhibition curated by Lucy Chetcuti as part of the 2026 Craft + Design Festival.

Bespoke Utopia is open to ACT-based artists embracing slow design and creative practices grounded in material knowledge and long-term thinking. Linking global design conversations with Canberra’s craft history, this exhibition encourages audiences to consider how design shapes everyday life and how creative choices can challenge fast, disposable production models.

To be eligible, artists must:
🔸Live within 100km of the ACT
🔸Be aged 18 or over
🔸Have work available for sale

We’re partway through our Annual Appeal and the support so far has been incredible. 🌈

Thanks to our community, we’re already making progress toward our $6,000 goal to upgrade essential exhibition equipment at M16 Artspace. Every contribution is helping us build a more accessible, ambitious space for artists and audiences. ✨🕑🙏

Your support is helping us upgrade the equipment that keeps M16 accessible, ambitious, and artist-centred. This campaign is to support the tools behind the scenes, the lighting, technology, and accessibility upgrades that make exhibitions possible and meaningful. 💻📸🎧🎤

If you’ve been thinking about giving, there’s still time. Every donation before 30 June makes a real difference and is tax deductible.

Because art is for all. Always.

✨ ⏳ Final Days ⏳ ✨

Don't miss out on seeing M16's current exhibitions before they close tomorrow!

💎 The Quiet Between | M16 Studio Artists, curated by Eason Lin
The Quiet Between is a group exhibition bringing together M16 studio artists, aiming to create a space that is not predefined, presenting artistic practices that engage with diverse dimensions of landscape, material, memory, and perception. The exhibition cultivates a quiet and open environment in which meaning gradually emerges through attentive viewing, encounters with artworks, and sustained observation.

💎 Blockwork | Fiona Little
Fiona Little’s exhibition Blockwork examines the interplay of light, shadow, and geometric form. Using controlled lighting, simple wooden blocks are transformed into architectural structures where negative space becomes integral. The work reflects an interest in repetition, balance, and material presence, inviting close attention to texture, tone, and spatial relationships.

💎 JUNKYARD | Charlie Jay & Grace Walters
As we strive for progress and abundance, are we failing to appreciate what's already there? And do we really know what we are creating? The natural and the constructed worlds are at odds with each other, and a growing junkyard spirals out of sight and out of control.

🔸 Exhibitions close 5pm Sunday 7 June

🔸 M16 Galleries are open Wed - Sun 12-5pm

🌟 Now Showing 🌟

JUNKYARD | Charlie Jay & Grace Walters

What are we building for? And where are we going?

As we strive for progress and abundance, are we failing to appreciate what's already there? And do we really know what we are creating? The natural and the constructed worlds are at odds with each other, and a growing junkyard spirals out of sight and out of control. Humans and animals are carving out pockets to survive in an ever growing shadow of the junkyard - what we wish to ignore but refuses to disappear. Ghosts haunt and panic grows, and you'll wonder if it's all beyond our control.

Put on your hard hats - it's sure to be a wild ride.
