It was such a lovely Saturday evening at KIN. I had the great pleasure of welcoming Susan Galvin from Galvin Watch company to the Gallery. We spent the evening enjoying drinks, nibbles and having a hands on look at the working of watches. Guests were able to put hands on watch faces, regulate watch movements and closing cases. The vibes were strong, I’m so grateful to be part of such a lovely community.
You can find a selection of Galvin watches in store and online at KIN.

It is brooch season and I’m so excited. Jacket lapels just scream for a special piece. A jauntily slung scarf? Keep it in place with something special that screams you.
This beautiful piece is by Laura Eyles. She has fabricated this mother of pearl brooch entitled “button brooch”.
Before the birth of plastics, mother of pearl was used for making buttons. In the 19th century, Broome was one of the world's major suppliers of mother of pearl for the button making industry. Laura says that working with the material of the shell from the oyster that makes her south sea pearls allow her to consider the whole life cycle of the oyster, it's pearl making and it's shell collection. Carving and drilling buttons connects her with history and an industry that worked with beautiful natural materials right here in Australia.

Ten years ago I had the great privilege of becoming a Mum. On Mother’s Day I send my love to the Would be if they could be Mums, the waiting to be Mums, those missing their Mums, the ones with complicated arrangements, the ‘Mums’ who step in, step mums and Foster Mums.
Today is complicated for some. I see you. Xx
