Water, precision, and teamwork. 💧🚁

The first Bambi Bucket training flights with our new H145M helicopters are currently taking place in Beauvechain.

De eerste trainingen met bambibuckets vol water voor onze nieuwe H145M-helikopters vinden momenteel plaats in Beauvechain. 🚁

Defensie werkt volop aan de opbouw van deze nieuwe capaciteit.

Het doel? Tegen volgende lente al een eerste operationele capaciteit aanbieden. Zo kunnen onze helikopters ook ingezet worden voor het voorkomen of blussen van natuurbranden zoals die op de Hoge Venen afgelopen zomer.

Defensie moet haar verantwoordelijkheid nemen in het buitenland, maar ook hier in ons eigen land.

On 6 October 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Basic Flight Training Capability (BFTC) will officially launch a major new chapter for the Belgian Air Force. This ambitious project will provide a modern, state-of-the-art training facility dedicated to preparing the next generation of military pilots.

A significant milestone in strengthening our capabilities, investing in tomorrow’s talent, and shaping the future of Belgian Air Power.

1st Wing at the 4th NATO Memorial March 🇧🇪 🇪🇺

Five members of the 1st Wing proudly represented the Belgian Air Component and Belgium during the 4th NATO Memorial March in Fréthun/Calais, marking the first official Belgian participation in the event.

More than just a physical challenge, the march was an opportunity to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and freedom. Along the route, participants paid tribute at several memorial sites before crossing the finish line alongside military personnel from Germany, France, and Luxembourg, reflecting the spirit of cooperation that defines the NATO Alliance.

The day concluded with a medal ceremony at the Mémoire 39-45 Museum, recognizing the commitment, perseverance, and camaraderie shown throughout the event.

✈️🚁 Throwback Thursday: Behind every take-off, every mission, and every success stands a team.

Today , we pay tribute to the women and men who work every day behind the scenes of our aircraft.

Technicians, mechanics, logisticians, meteorological specialists, medical personnel, firefighters, Force Protection personnel, physical training instructors, Mission Support staff, cooks, administrative personnel, and many others all contribute, through their expertise and dedication, to the success of our operations.

Since 1946, generations of military and civilian personnel have served with professionalism, commitment, and passion, ensuring the readiness, safety, and effectiveness of our missions, both at home and abroad.

While aircraft symbolize air power, it is above all the people who support them who are its true strength.

For 80 years, their dedication has enabled the Belgian Air Force to accomplish its mission. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, thank you to all those who keep our history flying.

✈️🚁 Throwback Thursday: Beauvechain's Aviators, Generations of Flight

For generations, the aviators of Beauvechain have helped shape the history of Belgian military aviation. Heirs to the legendary 349 and 350 Squadrons, which served alongside the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, they have contributed to the defence of our country, the protection of NATO airspace, and numerous missions in support of the population.

From the Spitfire to the F-16, through the A109 and the NH90, and soon the H145M, the aircraft may change, but the commitment remains the same.

Behind every cockpit are women and men driven by an extraordinary calling, marked by dedication, discipline, and the constant pursuit of excellence. Day and night, they stand ready to defend our territory, assist those in need, and answer the call whenever duty requires.

Today, we pay tribute to the pilots of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, whose courage, professionalism, and spirit of service have made Beauvechain proud for more than 80 years. ✈️🚁
