🎉 Over $320,000 awarded to local community projects!

Community Foundation Grey Bruce is excited to announce the recipients of our 2026 Fall Community and Capital Grants!

This fall, 47 projects across Grey and Bruce received funding to support important initiatives that strengthen our communities.

💚 31 Community Grants totalling over $120,000

💚 16 Capital Grants totalling over $200,000, made possible through the generous support of the Eva Leflar Endowed Fund.

From improving accessibility and supporting food security to creating opportunities for youth, arts, and community connection, these projects are making a difference throughout our region!

There’s still time to apply for the Dr. Hilli Huff Palliative Care Education Award.

This award is available to Grey Bruce residents who are working or volunteering in palliative care, or who are looking to build their knowledge and skills through further education.

Support can help with costs such as course tuition or registration fees. Applicants may include volunteers, personal support workers, medical professionals, allied health professionals, board members, emergency medical technicians, and others involved in palliative care.

📅 Applications close October 31, 2026.

We had a fun visit at the office today from Reach Centre Grey Bruce and their Mobile Café!

Our staff were more than happy to enjoy the delicious treats they brought along! 😋

Did you know you can also stop by REACH at 369 8th Street East in Owen Sound to check out the treats and crafts they have available?

Thanks to the REACH team for coming by and brightening up our Monday!

🎓 Congratulations to Carina Fleming, recipient of the 2026 Gwen Lamont Education Fund Bursary!

Carina is a mature student pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work at Laurentian University while working full time and raising her family.

Through her work in supportive outreach, Carina supports people experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges and other barriers. She hopes to become a registered social worker and continue advocating for vulnerable neighbours in our communities.

The Gwen Lamont Education Fund Bursary supports mature students (preference to females) from Grey or Bruce County who are continuing their education later in life.

Congratulations, Carina! We wish you all the best as you continue your education and work toward making a difference in the lives of others 💙

Today, we join communities across Canada in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It asks us to listen, to learn, and to carry that understanding forward in how we build relationships and strengthen our communities.

As September 30 approaches, we encourage our community to take time to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

This day honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, their families and communities, while recognizing that the impacts of the residential school system continue to be felt today.

For Community Foundation Grey Bruce, being part of a strong and caring community also means making space to listen, learn and reflect. Reconciliation is an ongoing responsibility, and each of us has a role in building greater understanding and more respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples and communities.

📣 Applications are now open for the Dr. Hilli Huff Palliative Care Education Award!

This award supports Grey Bruce residents who are currently working or volunteering in palliative care, or who are looking to expand their skills and knowledge in the field.

Eligible applicants may include volunteers, board members, medical and allied health professionals, emergency medical technicians, personal support workers, and others supporting palliative care in the community, long term care, or residential hospice settings.

Funding is intended to help with education costs, with primary consideration given to tuition or registration fees.

📅 Application deadline: October 31, 2026
