Red Brick Common

Red Brick Common The old brick school built in 1925, using Scottish architectural design; it has a hip-gable roof and a bell tower.

The school was Stony Plain’s first regional high school and was in full operation until 1949. After extensive renovations and landscaping, the school was reborn as the Multicultural Heritage Centre, a Provincial Historic Site. Alongside the red brick schoolhouse stands the Oppertshauser House. Built in 1910, it is architecturally unique due to its unusual European style roof. The Oppertshauser Hou

se is a Municipal Historic Resource, which interprets the urban aspect of our local heritage in the setting of a well-established Stony Plain family. Tour the museum, art gallery, pioneer cabin, artisan shop, and the Oppertshauser House as well as the outdoor gardens, and amphitheatre. Throw back When we were a school.

If you don't know about the Red Brick Common we were built in 1925. Back then students traveled or boarded to come to school here. The next closest high school was in Edmonton. Visit the Town with the Painted Past and stop in at the "Old School" for an education in local history.

Guess it Wednesday!

I don’t wash, but I lend a hand,
With turning wheels you understand.
Feed wet fabric straight through me,
And out comes water running free.
