Monte Clark Gallery, 130–1706 W 1st Avenue

Monte Clark Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new and recent works by Vilhelm Sundin. Bringing together six photographic and video works, the exhibition explores experiences of duration, repetition, and temporal distortion through images that move between observation and construction. Employing seamless video loops and constructed photographic landscapes, Sundin’s works reflect on memory, perception, and the shifting visual language of contemporary life.

Gailan Ngan: KromOjos, on view through May 16th.


Glaze plays a central role in KromOjos. Ngan approaches it with a painter’s sensibility, layering and testing to produce a wide range of surfaces. Some are matte and softly cratered, others glossy and almost liquid, while certain passages take on a subtle “orange peel” texture. Much of the palette is shaped by her ongoing use of chromium oxide—“Krom”—which produces a nuanced range of greens and sometimes pinks. These colours are not entirely predetermined; they develop through firing, where heat and chance introduce variation, allowing each work to settle into its own surface.

News: Longlisted for the 2026 Sobey Art Award

We are thrilled to share that Emily Hermant has been longlisted for the 2026 Sobey Art Award. Organized by the and funded the Sobey Art Foundation, the Sobey Art Award recognizes Canadian artists who are at a critical juncture in their careers, and whose work reflects on the contemporary moment, both nationally and globally.

Working with recycled communication wires and data cables, Hermant creates intricately woven works derived from glitch-altered digital imagery, transforming ephemeral information systems into tactile, luminous surfaces and forms that evoke a soft collapse of communications technologies. A recipient of funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, her practice examines the materiality and afterlives of communications technologies.

Emily Hermant has a forthcoming solo exhibition at the this summer as the inaugural artist in the museum’s new Vancouver Now! series, which highlights Canadian artists to watch. Her exhibition will run August 7–November 22, 2026.

Holger’s latest depict domestic scenes, portraiture, and characters from German folklore and literature.

The rooster (der Hahn) is a multifaceted symbol representing vigilance, the dawn, fertility, and the boundary between the mortal world and the supernatural. In the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, “The Town Musicians of Bremen” the rooster is part of a group of four aging animals—along with a donkey, dog, and cat—who escape their owners to become musicians in the city of Bremen.
