Kostuik Gallery

Kostuik Gallery Celebrating 25 yrs showcasing paintings, sculptures, collage, all photography formats.

Established 1997 in Vancouver, Canada, the gallery represents established and emerging visual artists from across Canada, the USA, Japan, Mexico, Germany and The Netherlands. It brings together artists that explore similar themes and aesthetic approaches creating a relevant cross section of current interests and concerns. The gallery artists’ works address the various ways in which the contemporar

y mindset has altered nature and our relationship to it. Notably are organic references to nature’s influence, impact or unconscious message its presence plays on the individual artist or collector, or society as a whole. Together the works inform each other and provide a complex context for the reading of their individual perspectives. Since 2001, the gallery has participated in international art fairs in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Toronto, and Miami. Our services include small and large-scale commission based projects, framing, local delivery and installation, and shipping worldwide.

Join acclaimed photographer David Burdeny at Kostuik Gallery for a special exhibition featuring newly printed works from several of his most celebrated and widely collected series. The evening will also debut three brand-new photographs created during his recent travels.
Experience the world through Burdeny’s striking and contemplative imagery, with each photograph available in four limited-edition sizes. This exhibition also marks a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years of Burdeny’s representation at Kostuik Gallery and a long-standing collaboration built around an extraordinary body of work.

“Where has the time gone? It’s been over twenty years since I chanced upon the gallery one evening while out on a walk with my two dogs. I was fresh out of Architecture school and recently transplanted from Winnipeg to my new home in Vancouver…I am eternally grateful to Jennifer for her dedication to the arts in our beautiful city and the willingness to take in a photographer with less than twenty images in his portfolio and almost no exhibition history.” – David Burdeny, Kostuik Gallery 25th Anniversary Catalogue.

Vancouver based Judy D. Shane’s images of remnant paint – scraped from the surface of her studio mixing palettes – continue to emphasize the extensive working process used in creating Shane’s photographic artworks. Random colour and textural relationships created by the haphazard removal of the paint from the palettes is forged into each paint shard highlighting the fragile intricacies of chance. As with all her work, here again the spatial relationships between figure and ground become blurred as well as the lines between two-dimensionality and a three-dimensional realism. Shane does not edition her photographic images. They are unique, akin to a real painting. “The Painted Photograph: Remnants Silver White 09”

New wall sculptures to explore at the gallery (Vancouver) and the Pop-up (Toronto
April 23-May 3)! Canadian sculptor Marianne Lovink has continually changed her mediums (wire/fiberglass/aluminum/welded steel), but retains her interests in forms that have a basis in cell formation (science/botanicals). She is specifically interested in exploring the relationship between sculptural form and its embellishment.
