As the warm weather fades, nature undergoes a quiet transformation. This striking photograph, "End of Season", captures the skeletal, sculptural beauty of wild flora as it dries out and prepares for the winter months ahead.
Often, wildlife photography focuses entirely on vibrant colors and active animals. But true appreciation for the natural world means finding wonder in its stillness, its cycles, and its resilience. This piece invites you to slow down and find beauty in the forgotten corners of our fields and meadows.

What emotions does this photograph stir up for you? Does it bring a sense of peace, nostalgia, or anticipation for the coming winter? Let us know in the comments below!

This stunning submission comes to us from Marilyn F. as part of our ongoing wildlife exhibition, in association with Abingdon Camera Club One Planet Abingdon Abingdon Carbon Cutters, Abingdon Naturalists Society & Green Gym

On Thursday October 15th Eddy Smythe will tell the fascinating story of his father John Smythe who came to the UK from Sierra Leone to join the RAF during WW2. He was promoted to an officer and was shot down over Germany during a bombing raid. He spent 18 months in a POW camp and after liberation was seconded to the Colonial Office where he played a crucial role in the inception of the Windrush Generation. He went on to train as a barrister and later became Attorney General of his home country. All welcome.

🎃 Spooky season is officially here, and we have the perfect photo to get you in the mood!
Today, we are adding this incredible shot featuring the Ermine moth cocoons and silk webs to our Wildlife photographic album. This stunning creature paid a visit to Abbey Meadows and was captured beautifully by Elizabeth D. and submitted as part of our Wild Life exhibition! 📸✨
Doesn't it look beautifully ghostly? 👻
