The Bexhill Museum Costume collection team have been delving into the stores again to produce another weekend special exhibition. *Costumes and Crafts* brings items which are not usually on display are out into the limelight. The exhibition is open this Saturday and Sunday (14 and 15 March) during normal opening hours, 11am to 4pm. Admission to the display is free but donations will be appreciated. The big brains of Little Common & Bexhill are gathering again for the Museum’s annual Quiz Night Fundraiser. Teams of up to six welcome at the Community Centre in Shepherds Close in Little Common, Friday 21 November, £6 per person. Book your place now!

Have fun building your own LEGO programmable machines and creatures! Suitable for ages seven to 11 years old. All children must be accompanied by adults. There are two sessions available on 31 October – one in the morning 11.00am to 12.30pm and an afternoon session at 1.30pm until 3.00pm. 🎉 Great news! Bexhill Museum has been awarded £43,118 from the Government’s new Museum Renewal Fund — part of a £20 million national package to help local museums stay open and thriving.

This vital funding will help us protect our opening hours, support our amazing staff and volunteers, and strengthen our education and community work into 2026.

On the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day, remember the town's POWs, suffering years of systematic starvation, appalling living conditions, and deliberate humiliation. Prisoners were crammed into overcrowded cells, denied clothing, decent food and medicine. Many died, murdered by their guards or from debilitating yet preventable disease. But some did survive.

As we mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, remember Bexhill's survivors of Japanese slave labour camps - and those prisoners who never made it home.
