NEW EXHIBITION

New work by Blackburn based artist and printmaker, Ian Halawi. An amazing new exhibition at Blackburns fabulous Mini Market Gallery. Here is what Ian says about this porject
"I make paintings based on my memories and childhood dreams in Brunei. Being mixed race, I spent my childhood in Brunei before moving to and settling in England. And with that move, Brunei slowly became a distant memory, with certain objects and scenes staying with me, such as batik flowers, woven sarongs and most prominently, the jungle itself. After a recent visit in 2025, those memories came flooding back, but now, through an adult lens, they have had me questioning my identity and experience. I need to paint; I'm most relaxed when I do, and these thoughts have served as the base/inspiration for these paintings."

Calling artists and makers who live, work or study in Blackburn with Darwen

Free four-week-long exhibition opportunity in Lancashire’s newest and smallest Art Gallery.

Situated in the heart of Blackburn’s busy market, the gallery is a fantastic place to showcase your work.

The gallery is seeking any art form that fits. From paintings to photography, from textiles to lino prints, from digital to drawing…

The gallery is best suited to wall-mounted pieces, though there is some behind-glass space under the counter for 3d objects.

The gallery is small with white walls. It can be configured in two ways, with the counter closed and artworks exhibited on the back wall, or open with artworks also exhibited to the sides. Note that the walls at the sides are curved.

There is a limited number of four-week slots available, so we cannot accept every application. Over the course of a year, we want to present a wide variety of media and artists. The programme will be selected by a small panel, and their decision is final.

APPLY NOW SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT.
