This weekend marks the closing of Dream Inheritances. Join us for the finnissage with a tour, music, performances and readings by exhibiting artists and special guests. Plus, Heather Williams leads a BSL exhibition tour on Sunday.

On our screens, we welcome Kotatsu Japanese Animation for their 15th anniversary, with a weekend of animated films, a CGI masterclass, Japan-inspired music and a marketplace for authentic merchandise. Elsewhere, our films are preoccupied with performance: Babystar and Bad Apples lead the week, alongside The Incomer, Her Private Hell and Everybody Digs Bill Evans.

At our events, our in-house jazz group Chapter Four bring melodic swinging tunes and storming improvisations, Noson Lawen is open to all whether you want to sing, play or just listen to some great traditional music, and the Pub Quiz returns — gather your team and head to the bar.

After 25 years, Hannah Firth is leaving Chapter. In November, she becomes CEO & Creative Director at Mwldan in Cardigan.

On stage, Fio's artistic director Mathilde López has given six theatre-makers a provocation, either as source material or approach. Provocations II is the result. The evening performance will have BSL interpretation.

In the gallery, our hands-on clay workshop invites 14–18 year olds to create a sculpture that reflects their identity, led by Humairah Hussain and Tashlima Rahman in response to Dream Inheritances.

We close our BFI Rip It Up season with two events: The War Game, with a live rescore by Cardiff musicians Noson followed by a Q&A, and Hei Mr Urdd!, bringing together clips curated by Osian Andrew from the National Screen and Sound Archive with a panel of speakers. Elsewhere on screen, Bad Apples, Lady, Queen at Sea, Billy Liar and Steel on Film all find characters navigating impossible situations.

At our events, Noson Lawen is open to all, Anushiye Yarnell's Archipelago Movement offers an adaptable session, Drones Comedy Club showcases the best from up-and-coming stand-ups, and Canton Repair Café welcomes everything from electricals to bikes.

This weekend, we become home to Watch Africa Film Festival! Join us for three days of film, conversation, music and making celebrating African cinema and storytelling right here in Cardiff.

On stage, Fio's first series of Provocations arrives, with theatre makers responding to an obstacle given by artistic director Mathilde López.

On our screens, Leviticus, The Dog Stars and Super Nature, plus a Carry On Screaming showing of Super Nature for parents and carers with babies under one.

At our events, Noson Lawen is open to all whether you want to sing, play or just listen to some great traditional music, and Anushiye Yarnell's Archipelago Movement classes offer gentle, adaptable sessions for all.

Six theatre makers have each been given a provocation by Fio’s artistic director Mathilde López, either as source material or approach. The result: six 30-minute works-in-progress, unresolved and unpolished, built in a week and tested live.

Provocations I: Thursday 17 September, 3pm and 7pm (with BSL interpretation by Cathryn McShane)
Provocations II: Thursday 24 September, 3pm and 7pm (with BSL interpretation by Tony Evans)

After each presentation, trade your feedback for a samosa and a drink before the next provocation begins.
