Bill Douglas Cinema Museum The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, Exeter is a brilliant resource for film fans. Free and open to all.

The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum at the University of Exeter is both a public museum, free to visitors and a brilliant research resource for students, film enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in the history of cinema and the moving image. We hold over 75,000 artefacts related to the history of the moving image from the seventeenth century to the present day. Our galleries are open 7 days a week except from bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year.

100 Years of Marilyn: Building an Exhibition - part 3!

Today marks what would have been the 100th birthday of Marilyn Monroe, one of film's greatest icons 🎂

We are marking the day by opening our new exhibition, '100 Years of Marilyn' - our exhibition launch is at 5:30pm today: 100 Years of Marilyn Exhibition Launch

📣100 Years of Marilyn Exhibition! 🎞️

Our volunteer student curators have been hard at work again today installing more objects for the upcoming exhibition celebrating 100 years since the birth of one of Hollywood’s greatest icons Marilyn Monroe. The exhibition is really starting to take shape now with dozens of carefully selected items being arranged in the foyer display cases. There is still time to book a place at our opening event on Monday 1st June just follow the link to get your ticket.

📆 This May half term, on Tuesday 26th drop in between 10am-12noon and 2-4pm for free kids' creative activities inspired by stars of the big screen! 🎞️

⭐️ Make your own stars of fame, design your own film posters, take photos on our ‘red carpet’ and enter our special Marilyn Monroe art competition!
Suitable for all ages. Materials provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

📣This is the last weekend of our temporary exhibition Land of the Pharaohs: Egypt on Screen! 🇪🇬

Over 70 exhibits span nearly 200 years of images of Egypt from David Roberts’ early lithographs to the animated feature Prince of Egypt, the Land of the Pharaohs has fascinated western audiences throughout the 20th century.

The exhibition will finish on Wednesday 20th May then look out for our next exhibition, 100 Years of Marilyn which will open at the end of the month!
