Reminder - Coming up this Thursday!

Join us on 3rd September between 6-8pm for an informal opening evening, to celebrate the launch of Ellen Doggett’s solo exhibition at New House Art Space.

Ellen was the winner of public vote last summer with her mixed media piece, 100 days of Lockdown.

“Working across a range of disciplines including painting, textiles, and upholstery, Ellen explores the richness of everyday life through material and process. She’s drawn to moments that might otherwise go unnoticed; fleeting interactions, habitual gestures, and the quiet rhythms of daily routines. Inspired by encounters during her commute, she observes characters and behaviours that reflect the subtle complexity of human experience.”

Tomorrow evening we welcome the Guildford Folk Club back into the gallery for another evening of traditional tunes.

The folk club is a friendly and welcoming group sharing traditional folk music and culture every month. There’s an opportunity to perform in the first half if you have something prepared, followed by a session where everyone can join in.

This Sunday Guildford Coffee Club is back with a chocolatey twist, where we’ll be welcoming master chocolatier Willem of Juthan Chocolate to guide us through a bean-to-bar tasting experience. We'll explore how flavour develops, why aroma matters as much as taste, and how slowing down changes the experience.

Starting with cacao's journey from origin to finished bar, we'll discover how makers think about chocolate, and why the same attention to origin, processing and craft matters as much in cacao as in specialty coffee.

Willem's session at the Guildford Coffee & Culture Festival was one of the most talked-about of the day. This gathering isn't a repeat, but an opportunity to go deeper: more time to taste, more room for questions, and a chance to develop a greater understanding of what chocolate is.

The session will be full of the usual elements of the coffee club, with great conversation and an opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts in a calm, mindful atmosphere. No knowledge required, just a willingness to learn.

Come and join a restorative painting workshop to reconnect with your creative intuition! 🎨

On Saturday 12th September painter and womb art facilitator Theodora Price will be hosting a creative workshop at New House, offering cacao, canvas, and space to feel connected to yourself.

Over three hours you will be guided through an immersive creative experience to rediscover and express yourself authentically. No painting experience required!

Tonight we have another LGBTQ+ Life Drawing class, hosted by local q***r artist 🎨

This month we’ll be joined by model Ella-Grace, who will guide the group through a series of timed poses throughout the evening.

“Ella is a multifaceted creative of British-Caribbean heritage. She’s an underwater model, seamstress, pole dancer and poet who loves trying new things. She’s looking forward to life modelling as an act of liberation and reconnecting with her vulnerability.”

As always the classes are open to all artistic levels and abilities, and there will be a break halfway through the session to rest and meet fellow drawers.
