Today the sign for Wuthering Arts came down and I locked the door for one last time. A bittersweet moment but the kindness and support of good Main Street friends reminded me of all the happy times and how lucky I have been to work in such an environment. Wuthering Arts could never be the same again without George. Thank you to the people who came yesterday to buy things, reminisce and celebrate not only his talent as an artist but his innate gift for making people feel special.

Hello, if you are local you may have noticed the shop for sale sign in Wuthering Arts' window. Sunday was our last official day of trading - there may yet be a pop-up to sell off any remaining stock. George and I first opened 10 years ago. It was an exciting adventure for us as a newly retired couple. We had 5 happy years and George was in his element until he was diagnosed with brain cancer and became blind. I kept the shop going throughout his illness and for the last, nearly, 3 years since his death. It was what he wanted. He always hoped that he would recover and paint again. It is with a heavy heart for what might have been but I now need to move on to a new phase in my life, hence the shop sale. I want to extend my thanks to those who supported us both over the years. The Main Street community are amazing. I especially want to thank my weekend assistant Lyanne. I couldn't have managed to continue without her. Sarah - Wuthering Arts

The shop has a new purple cloak and is wearing it with style. The hue changes with the light through the day. Warm and rich, sometimes a shade of royal blue and at other times a deep purple, reflective of the moorland landscape around us. Just hope it doesn't turn grey in the winter.

New roof on Saturday. New look emerging today, although the undercoat gives no clue as to what is to come. The shop has had many layers and incarnations over the years. Lets see how it wears this one

Deconstructed flag for the WutheringArts window to celebrate the forthcoming 'Haworth Pride Festival' this weekend. I have a lot of 'pride' in this village and this is one of the many reasons why.

This is Samuel Sharp's latest piece for us. Beautifully illustrating the stillness and tranquility of 'Top Withins' (but always with a hint of the wild and windy!)- Prints will be available in the shop to buy this weekend.

We are lucky to have Samuel Sharp working with us as a featured artist at WutheringArts. This will be a really interesting session as part of the Bradford City of Culture calendar of events.

Join artist Samuel Sharp for an engaging exploration of his creative practice, influences, and new work.   Reflecting on the enduring impact of David Hockney, Sharp will discuss how observation, place, and process shape his distinctive visual style. He’ll also introduce his new book, The Long Lo...

Hearing the news of John Mackie's premature passing has brought great sadness.
John was a gifted artist with a worldwide following and commercial success. One of his other great talents was his ability to nurture and tutor other emerging artists - which he always did with genuine encouragement and enthusiasm. George admired John, immensely and counted him as a friend as well as a teacher. Without his generosity and guidance WutheringArts would surely not exist as it does today. He left so many artistic legacies.
Cheers to you John, a true gentleman and scholar.
