Join us for Constable's 250th Birthday Party on the 11th June! ✨

This is a FREE, drop in event for families, to spend time outdoors after school, from 3:30pm - 5pm, on the beautiful Christchurch Mansion front lawn.

With an afternoon of celebrations, the whole family can join in artist led activity, sign Constable's Birthday Card and share Constable's Birthday Cake! 🎂

Bring along a picnic and dress for the weather to make the most of a summery afternoon celebrating one of Suffolk’s most famous artists. ☀️

Step into the world of Regency elegance with art restorer, Sarah Cove! ✨

Join us for a fascinating lecture on the rediscovery and restoration of John Constable’s portraits of society figure Mrs. Emily Treslove and her husband, Thomas. 🖼️

Sarah Cove is an accredited paintings conservator-restorer, technical art historian and lecturer, specialising in British art and leading authority on Constable’s oil painting materials and techniques.

Tickets are £25 per person and include a welcome drink, the talk and entry to Constable 250: A Cast of Characters.

Our Constable: A Cast of Characters is FREE for U16's, meaning little ones and teens can enjoy this fascinating exhibition for free.

We also have our Gallery Explorer Trail, which is a set of fun activity cards with things to find and do around the exhibition. 🖼️

This is a FREE resource which can be found at the front desk, a perfect activity to get the whole family involved! 🙌

Sounds like a perfect day out for this half term...

Adults will need to book a ticket for the exhibition, children will be admitted free on arrival; no separate ticket needed. 👇

With a variety of workshops and talks, the programme will explore Constable's life and work, and how landscapes are experienced, represented and understood.

Have you you seen the amazing sculpture's made by the talented Sasha Constable at our exhibition? ✨

Ode to Alfred, is a piece hand carved in Portland stone in memory of Alfred, John Constables 6th child, who sadly drowned in a boating accident.

The work serves as memorial to Alfred and the bond he had with his brother, Lionel Constable.
