Our latest house exclusive fabric The Napoleon III Superfine Blue is now available to order.

As we celebrate our 220 year anniversary we wanted to honour this landmark anniversary with one of the most pivotal customers in our history, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Napoleon III. The former Emperor granted the company its first Royal Warrant in 1858 and helped to solifidy Henry Poole & Company as a global name. To read more about the story, follow the link in our bio.

Our latest house special, The Napoleon III Superfine Blue, being woven in Biella, Italy by , the original makers of the former Emperor of France’s Superfine Blue cloth, tailored by Henry Poole in 1847 as a silk lined coat.

Re-imagined using varying shades of pastel blue yarns, this lightweight flannel is woven in a refined herringbone to create a subtle yet elegant three season fabric.

This year, we are extremely proud to celebrate 220 years. To mark this landmark anniversary, we pay tribute to the very first Royal Warrant granted to the company in 1858 by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Napoleon III of France.

While studying the ledgers of the former Emperor’s orders, we were struck by a reference to a “Superfine Blue Silk Lined Coat”, a piece of striking simplicity and elegance, and a perfect parallel to Poole’s style of tailoring.

Tracing the story further led us to , the original mill that supplied this superfine blue. Working closely with them, we designed a lightweight flannel featuring an extremely subtle herringbone, honouring the cloth’s heritage while expressing it in a contemporary way.

This latest addition to our House Specials is available to view in store and at our upcoming trunk shows. For further information or to place an order, please contact [email protected]
