Open Space Open Space supports emerging creative practices and promotes dialogue in the arts through an annual programme of projects in unexpected spaces.

Initiated and developed by Huma Kabakci, Open Space Contemporary is an international contemporary art project that looks into promoting cross-cultural dialogue between artists, curators and art practitioners internationally. The first edition took place in London. This particular moving project space aims to create recognition, present artists and curators coming from diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences and artistic practices. By calling itself ‘open,’ Open Space Contemporary aims to explore various art media through talks, performances, moving images, screenings and dialogues. One of the key objectives of the project is to further the curatorial and artistic discourse and open up to other exhibitions and symposiums. Open Dialogue Istanbul Initiated by Billur Tansel, is a collaborating project that focuses on educational programmes, talks and dialogues.

I am still here at Mokkei 木鶏 Kitchen Atelier at a recipe-writing retreat generously hosted by Hannah Kirshner | ハナ and co-organised with Clarissa Wei 💫 Technically still “off the grid”, whatever that means in this day and age when we share things on a whim. But this place inspired me to share a short narrative recipe. Swipe right to the end for my version of Japanese-inspired “çılbır”, aka Turkish eggs.
•
There is never “enough” chilli butter for çılbır: A recipe for Turkish Eggs from memory

I held a generous serving of thick Turkish süzme yoghurt (süzme meaning strained), topped with two fluffy poached eggs, in my relatively small child’s hands. PS: The yoghurt cannot be runny! The eggs gently melted into its creamy texture.

“The melted chilli butter is ready!” he yelled. “Come quick!” I rushed to his side by the hob like a baby elephant. He had a generous pot of just-melted Urfa chilli salted butter, ready to pour. As he poured it over my eggs and yoghurt, I held out my arms with excitement. When he didn’t stop, I had to say, “Baba, yeter, çok fazla oluyor” (Dad, enough, that’s too much!). He stopped with a grin.

We sat opposite each other at his round living-room table, dipping our bread into the yolky, creamy, oily mix with delight.

That was nearly twenty years ago. I miss him still. I miss his “çılbır”.

🗓️Save the date: How Do We Find Love? “Ecstasy and the Aftermath” opens 13 November at Sainsbury Centre | Art Museum.

The exhibition looks at relationships beyond the exhilarating early days and asks what remains after love has ended. It draws on feminist politics and q***r ecologies to treat love as more than a private vulnerability: as a strategy for survival and a radical act of resistance.

There will be three sections: Erotic Entanglements and Risk / Loss, Grief and Growth / Kinship and Chosen Families.

With works by Marina Abramović and Ulay, Ghada Amer, Francis Bacon, Jonathan Baldock, Ingrid Berthon-Moine, Phoebe Boswell, Judy Chicago, Ithell Colquhoun, Somaya Critchlow, İnci Eviner, Penny Goring, Dyana Gravina, Jane Hayes Greenwood, Blair Hughes-Stanton, Anna Perach, Polly Penrose, Chantal Powell, Paloma Proudfoot, Vanessa Raw, Miriam Schapiro, Francisca Sosa López, Holly Stevenson, Maya Weishof and Bex Wade.

In collaboration with Vanessa Tothill, Curator of Transhistorical Narratives at the Sainsbury Centre.

Love is the question I keep returning to, personally, spiritually and professionally. This show grew from my own experience of loss, and I’m so grateful to share it. An absolute pleasure, to open alongside John Kenneth Paranada ‘s in Gallery 2.

ℹ️: 13 November 2026 to 11 April 2027. Pay If and What You Can. More information on: https://sainsburycentre.ac.uk/whats-on/how-do-we-find-love/

With less than a week left for out exciting presentation and collaboration at Food Art Fair produced by Maisongb at Ladbroke Hall here are some teasers of all of our practices including what we’ll be presenting ✨💫🤩

Excited to be curating Breakfast in bed... (and other bad habits), presenting a new installation by painter Mia Wilkinson in collaboration with Kiki of Murder Cake, at Food Art Fair 2026.

The work stages the female appetite, both literal and erotic, across the two most charged sites of domestic life: the table and the bed. It asks where, and how freely, women are permitted to eat, desire and take up space.

Across the weekend, a selection of Wilkinson’s paintings and hand-painted china plates, Kabakcı’s publication Tender Touches, and Kiki’s jelly cakes will be available, alongside tasting experiences. DM for further interest 👀
