“This itch I’m trying to scratch. This place I’m trying to get to. It’s part of what I’m trying to unearth in the process.”

Inside the Artist’s Studio: Jan Waterston

Working from his studio in Birmingham, Jan Waterston creates sculptural furniture and objects that sit between art, craft and design - exploring how form can disrupt a space and shape emotional connection.

Rooted in traditional woodworking techniques and an instinctive understanding of material, his practice balances visual softness with tension, precision with irregularity, and functionality with sculptural presence.

For Waterston, wood remains at the centre of the process - a living material explored through patience, experimentation and intuitive making.

Inside the Artist’s Studio: Fabrikr

Based in Seoul, South Korea, artist duo Dongkyu Kim and Sungjo Kim work across object, installation, design and art - moving between the scale of a single work and the expanded language of space.

Their practice is rooted in materiality, context and transformation, often reworking overlooked or discarded materials into forms that challenge how we perceive value, surface and structure.

For Fabrikr, an object can hold the density of a vast space, while a space can unfold from the logic of a single object.

Following our first preview, we’re pleased to share the full studio film.

“I’m a maker. I like to get my hands dirty. I find it immensely satisfying… a direct line from the mind to the work.” - Niamh Barry

We are proud to announce our representation of acclaimed Irish artist Niamh Barry .

Working at the intersection of sculpture, light and material, Barry has built an internationally recognised practice defined by fluid bronze forms, technical precision, and an unmistakable sense of movement.

Her work will form part of our forthcoming programme, with new works to be unveiled later this year as the gallery enters an exciting new chapter.

Illuminated Sculpture | Art Furniture I Collectable Design

Inside the Artist’s Studio: Marc Fish

Based on the south coast of England, Marc Fish’s practice sits between sculpture and furniture — grounded in an uncompromising approach to craft and material.

His studio operates at scale, encompassing both a working atelier and a teaching environment, where emerging makers are trained alongside the development of his own pieces.

Here, complex, organic forms are built through the precise layering of thousands of hand-cut veneers, each piece evolving slowly as structure, surface and silhouette are refined in tandem.

Rooted in traditional cabinetmaking yet pushing beyond it, Fish incorporates materials such as carbon fibre, bronze and resin to create works that feel both elemental and engineered — balancing control with a sense of natural movement.

Filmed on site, this behind-the-scenes moment offers insight into the discipline, patience and technical rigour that define his process.

Alongside this, a new generation of makers is quietly being shaped within the same space — learning through doing, and carrying these techniques forward.

Now open: The Ground of Things
featuring Dawn Bendick , presented in collaboration with rug experts .

This new exhibition marks a pivotal expansion of the artist’s practice into textile, introducing her first body of hand-made rugs alongside new kiln-formed glass sculptures. Together, the works bring material, process, and form into a compelling dialogue.

Rooted in a sculptural way of thinking, the works explore colour as structure, depth, and movement — translating Bendick’s signature approach in glass into woven form, while retaining a strong sense of rhythm and presence.

Realised by master artisans in Nepal and cast in England, The Ground of Things reflects a deep commitment to material intelligence and craft across disciplines.

Fabrikr, Sparrow Chair, Yellow 01, Yellow 02 & Green 01, 2025

Presented in Seoul, at the newly reimagined Chicory Hotel , the works are installed within a suite overlooking the Han River.

Fabrikr - artist duo Dongkyu Kim and Sungjo Kim - work fluidly across object, design, and spatial installation. Their practice explores the relationship between form and space, treating objects as condensed architectures and environments as expanded sculptural fields.

Rooted in material experimentation, their work reinterprets overlooked or discarded elements, transforming them into highly resolved sculptural forms that challenge conventional perceptions of function and value.

Inside the Artist’s Studio: Studio Furthermore

As global attention returns to the Moon through the Artemis programme, Studio Furthermore’s work feels strikingly prescient — grounded in material experimentation, yet reaching beyond Earth.

Based in Hove, UK, the studio engages deeply with glass, ceramic, metal and lava, developing processes that mirror those found in nature to realise new design narratives.

Their ‘Moon Rock’ project — created in collaboration with the European Space Agency — will be permanently installed on the lunar surface, extending their practice into a truly extraterrestrial context.

Filmed in their studio, this short offers a rare insight into the thinking, process, and material language behind the work — where craft meets future speculation.

A study in process. A study in material. A study in form.
