We are delighted to present three works from the Charles Burnand collection within the Benjamin Moore UK Minhwa Salon at WOW!House 2026.
 
Designed by Young Huh, the room explores Korean folk tales through a contemporary lens, bringing together bold colour, symbolism and exceptional craftsmanship.

Kyeok Kim’s work begins with skin: the skin of the body, the skin of nature, and the second skin that memory leaves behind.

In her Second Surface and Surface of Memory works, Kim transforms copper wire through an intensely physical process of crochet, lacquer and layering. Industrial copper becomes soft, almost textile-like; then traditional Korean ottchil lacquer is applied, built up and refined until the surface holds both luminosity and depth.

What makes the recent pendant and chandelier works so powerful is the way Kim brings nature itself into the surface. She grinds tree bark into powder and layers it onto the form with lacquer, a gesture she describes as “nature’s skin transferring into the skin of another being.” The surface is no longer simply finished; it is embedded with time, touch and material memory.

There is something beautifully unstable in this process. The powders scatter, shift and refuse total control, mirroring the way memory behaves: some traces fade no matter how carefully we try to preserve them, while others remain vivid and impossible to erase.

Suspended as light, Kim’s pendants become more than objects. They are vessels of shadow, memory and atmosphere…ancient craft reimagined as contemporary sculpture.

Working from his studio in Birmingham, Jan Waterston creates sculptural furniture and objects that sit between art, craft and design - exploring how form can disrupt a space and shape emotional connection.
 
Rooted in traditional woodworking techniques and an instinctive understanding of material, his practice balances visual softness with tension, precision with irregularity, and functionality with sculptural presence.
 
For Waterston, wood remains at the centre of the process - a living material explored through patience, experimentation and intuitive making.

Inside the Artist’s Studio: Fabrikr
 
Based in Seoul, South Korea, artist duo Dongkyu Kim and Sungjo Kim work across object, installation, design and art - moving between the scale of a single work and the expanded language of space.
 
Their practice is rooted in materiality, context and transformation, often reworking overlooked or discarded materials into forms that challenge how we perceive value, surface and structure.
 
For Fabrikr, an object can hold the density of a vast space, while a space can unfold from the logic of a single object.
