On : Teston locks, near Maidstone, c. 1920. The only traffic on the locks in this photograph is the solitary man in his little boat. Perhaps the lack of traffic was because it was a day of rest or possibly it is due to the increasing use of road and rail. (Marley Collection (MC152)

It’s a puzzle! The museum is learning more about the wall plaster excavated from Otford Roman Villa in the 1920s. It is a giant puzzle going through the pieces matching colours and shapes to discover the decorative motifs. Today’s star find was a nice foot.

This : View of an old House in Frittenden, c. 1910. A very typical Kentish scene of a timbered farm house and oast. Possibly the only difference in the scene today would be that the oasthouse is now a very desirable residence. (Marley Collection (MC110)
