Happy Earth Day! 🌱🌳🌍💚♻️

22nd April marks Earth Day, a date that reminds us that the choices we make can have a lasting impact on our world. Donating unused items or shopping second-hand can be an easy and meaningful way to reduce waste.

Through its charity shops and donation centres, The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom - and throughout the world - gives people the opportunity to do just that.

Did you know that the iconic Salvation Army thrift store was but one pillar in William Booth’s plan to reform society, as laid out in his book, “In Darkest England and The Way Out?”

Booth’s vision of a “Household Salvage Brigade” that would collect unwanted materials from people’s homes and sell them at a reduce price to help the poor, evolved into the modern day thrift store. 🛒
