🚁 Drone Show, Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th October
The brilliant Beaufort Flying Club is back! Meet the team behind more than 25 hobby drones of all shapes and sizes, discover the science of how they fly, and see a Red Arrows Hawk and a large helicopter model on display. Hobby drone sessions (20 minutes) run first come, first served from 10:20am to 2:45pm in the Making Studio.

✈️ Models for Heroes, Wednesday 28th October
Models For Heroes, the UK’s first charity supporting model making for current and former Armed Forces and Emergency Service personnel, will be demonstrating their craft and sharing how model making can benefit anyone’s mental health.

Build your own rocket and watch it blast off!

We would like to address some of the recent media coverage that suggests we are in financial crisis.

When the museum opened in 2017, South Gloucestershire Council provided a £1 million loan to help establish this important new cultural attraction. Since then, like many independent charities, we've navigated some exceptionally challenging circumstances, including the pandemic, rising energy costs and the cost of living crisis.

Despite these challenges, Aerospace Bristol welcomed more than 100,000 visitors last year, we have launched our most ambitious aircraft conservation project yet and are preparing to launch an ambitious new five-year strategy. We're continuing to increase visitor numbers, develop new income opportunities and invest in the museum's future.

As an independent charity, we receive no regular public funding towards our running costs. The council's support takes the form of a repayable loan, on which we continue to pay interest. Last week, its cabinet confirmed its decision to defer capital repayments until 2030 - this is a welcome adjustment to the repayment arrangements, giving us greater flexibility to invest in our future.

We're delighted that the council shares our confidence in the museum's future. We are also grateful to everyone who supports us, visits us and recognises the role we play both in our region and as a nationally significant museum.

Thank you everyone for an incredible weekend!

We were thrilled to host FSimUK 2026, the UK’s biggest flight simulation event in years, and you helped make it one to remember. We welcomed a record-breaking 2,600 visitors over the two days!

Our hangars were filled with flight sim fans, developers and hardware makers, with exhibitors including efbX, iniBuilds, MOZA, FlyByWire Simulations, X-Plane, Thrustmaster, Aerosoft, Just Flight, BeyondATC and many more.

There were exciting announcements, seminars on the FSElite Stage, and plenty of chances to try out the latest kit for yourselves, all just a few steps away from Concorde.

It was brilliant to see so many people sharing their love of aviation, whether they fly in real life, from their living room, or both.

A huge thank you to the FSimUK team, all our exhibitors and sponsors, our fantastic staff and volunteers, and of course to every one of you who came along.

A story that has come full circle ✈️

Back in 1952, Bill Morgan was a young apprentice working on the Bristol Freighter T170.

More than 70 years later , Bill finds himself back with the very same aircraft, but this time as a volunteer at Aerospace Bristol, helping with its conservation.

From apprentice to volunteer, his connection with this remarkable aircraft has spanned generations.

It's not everyday you get to meet someone who helped work on an aircraft over 70 years ago, and then see them return to help preserve its story for future generations.

We're hiring!

Could you help us bring some of Aerospace Bristol's biggest heritage projects to life? ✈️

We're looking for a Freelance Heritage Project Support Officer to join us for an initial six-month period, working approximately two days a week.

It's a hands-on role supporting a portfolio of major heritage, conservation and capital projects – including our Bristol Freighter conservation project, the preservation and future development of Filton's famous Air Traffic Control Tower, and other significant museum projects.

We're looking for someone who is practical, proactive and highly organised; someone who can work independently, bring people and information together and spot what needs doing next to keep a project moving.

You'll work alongside our CEO, Head of Projects and specialist colleagues, liaising with architects, engineers, contractors, conservation specialists, funders and partners.

Experience in museum, heritage or conservation projects would be particularly valuable, but we're also interested in people with transferable experience from other sectors.

70 years after it was built in Bristol, the Freighter has taken its place once again.

Today marks another huge moment in the conservation of our Bristol Freighter T170, as the 70-year-old aircraft was carefully towed into its final position here at Aerospace Bristol.

It has been an incredible journey to get here. Over the past few months, we've watched the Freighter emerge from its conservation hangar, have its centre wing reattached and, just last week, get back on its own feet as the main landing gear was fitted.

Now it's moved it into its new home in our outdoor exhibition space, where visitors will be able to see this incredible piece of Bristol's aerospace history up close.

The Freighter was built here in Bristol around 70 years ago. Bringing it back to the city and securing its future has been at the heart of this project from the beginning, and seeing it take its place here is a very special moment for everyone involved.

Our specialist conservation team and volunteers have put an extraordinary amount of skill and thousands of hours into getting the aircraft to this point.

Concorde fans, we've got some rather special things coming up... ✈️

If Concorde is your thing, the next few months at Aerospace Bristol are going to be particularly exciting.

First up, on 12 September, we are welcoming Rowland White back to Aerospace Bristol for his latest talk, Flights, Fights and Fixes.

Rowland was a senior development engineer based in Toulouse throughout Concorde's testing programme and the only BAC electronics engineer on the team.

He'll be sharing the story of how the engineers worked together to solve some of Concorde's earliest problems, taking four years to achieve the final result.

And this isn't your standard museum talk. Concorde captains have attended Rowland's previous talks, and we're expecting fellow Concorde experts to travel from overseas for this one too.
