For the last couple of months, we’ve been very fortunate to have been loaned to a book scanner from The Collections Trust.

Using the scanner, we’ve digitised our accession registers, the records of all objects which are, or have been, part of our permanent collections. This means we have vital digital back-ups, plus we can now search them more easily.

We also took the opportunity to digitise items from our collections, such as E.H. Whydale's etchings and Jack Halstead's war diary.

The Museum is closed today so our team can spend Father's Day with their families. We hope that whatever you're doing, you have a very lovely Sunday.

🖼 This lovely image is an etching by E.H. Whydale showing his father, Rev. Josiah Whydale.

Rev. Whydale (circa 1856–1921) was a Wesleyan Methodist minister, who moved to Royston around 1915. In the aftermath of the First World War, Rev. Whydale was part of the committee who planned Royston's war memorial.
