Long Hill - A new piece in progress…

The winding road between Whaley Bridge and Buxton, travelled more times than I can count for kids’ clubs, trips to Buxton and everything in between!

I still remember being terrified of those tight bends on my first journeys. Now I know the road like the back of my hand, but it’s lovely to stop and really appreciate the scenery.

Getting this one ready for the Whaley Bridge Open Studio Weekend, 7th & 8th November.

Lovely results from our Canal Basin workshops! 🎨

It’s amazing to see everyone go from a blank canvas to a finished painting in such a short time! 🖌️ Everyone did a fantastic job, and a very enjoyable time was had by all.

A new painting underway — Chatsworth, a place I’ve been wanting to paint for some time.

It’s always been a special place to us, and we recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there. This piece is based on a photo taken that day, which makes it particularly special.

I’m looking forward to seeing it finished and ready for the Open Studio event at the gallery in Whaley Bridge on 7th & 8th November.

SOLD ❤️

‘The ‘Bathers’ have found a new home!

Painted onto wood, it’s one of those pieces that just cheers you up every time you look at it. I’ll definitely miss seeing it on the gallery wall - and it’s going to leave a rather big empty space behind!

The painting is also the inspiration for some upcoming workshops, where we’ll be exploring this style and process together. Something a little different, and lots of fun. 🎨

So, a fond farewell to this one, but what a lovely feeling knowing it’s off to a very happy new home. ❤️

What an amazing achievement for the much-loved Sheila Harling. ❤️

Sheila wrote her lovely little hedgehog book, A Prickly Tale, beautifully illustrated by a friend, with proceeds going to SMA UK, supporting people affected by spinal muscular atrophy.

We’ve had the pleasure of selling copies through the gallery, and it’s amazing to see that sales have now raised an incredible £1,175.80 for the charity!

Just as lovely has been hearing so many people share their stories of Mrs Harling and the special place she has held in their lives, particularly through Whaley Bridge Primary School.

She is a very special lady. 😊

Huge congratulations, Sheila – and thanks to everyone who has supported ‘A Prickly Tale.’ 🦔

A very enjoyable demo last night for Marple Art Society!

Always a packed room and such a welcoming crowd - a real pleasure to paint for you all.

I worked on a piece featuring Taxal Church, somewhere I’ve been meaning to paint for ages. I often run past it, have stopped and taken far too many photos over the years, and now it’s finally happening! There’s something very satisfying about finally getting a long awaited idea onto the canvas.
Fortunately I was all packed up and on our way before the heavens opened! ☔️

A lovely evening of painting, chatting and sharing the process. Thank you, Marple Art Society, for having me!
