After a busy summer season and with a bit of wind and a few chops along the way the Isabella Fortuna slipped back into the old lifeboat shed on Friday 25th at around 10:30am.

The winter maintenance begins now, and the crew are back hands-on getting her ready for another season.

Shout out to Wick Harbour Authority for their usual support with the pilot boat and to our crew and volunteer for their continuous support along the way.

Wick Heritage Museum is open tomorrow as part of Doors Open Day with free entry. Perfect chance to see around this fascinating and larger than you think museum crammed full of exhibits. Learn how the herring fishing shaped the town, what life was like then and view the stunning collection of Johnston photographs. If you want to learn what life was like on Noss Head lighthouse then come in about 2pm when David Fraser will be popping in to give a fascinating history of the lighthouse and actually see how it worked. Plenty for the kids to do as well with a quiz and a hunt for red herring. See you Sunday.

Reminder the Museum is open next Sunday with free entry. Volunteers will be on hand to show you around this fascinating and deceptively large museum. We also have David Fraser coming in to give talks and demonstrations on the Noss Head lighthouse ( one of very few fully operational units of this type). David was one of the last lighthouse keepers on Noss and gives a great insight into what life was like then. He will be in from 2pm to 3pm. Not to be missed.

We have a number of rooms that are display items of their own. However we also have lots of smaller items on display that are just as interesting. Just one example is this early automatic memorandum clock where discs are used to provide reminders of various items/activities. Invented by a gentleman born in Wick. Why not pop in to see this along with lots of other artefacts. Hope to see you soon.
