One of the many displays in the museum shows a traditional box bed which was commonly used on crofts/farms as well as in bustling harbour towns such as Wick. If a herring girl was lucky she may have stayed in a room like this whilst working in the town. This was a posh box bed, it has doors !

One of our many displays is the classroom from a time when slates were the tablet of the day. You might spot the infamous belts on the teachers desk. The desks etc came from the school on Stroma.
