THE CENTER offers exhibitions of top quality contemporary artwork from local, regional, and national artists. Your financial support and membership help us focus on what we do best: bringing Abilene high-quality contemporary art exhibits and ArtWalk, as well as ArtReach and ArtHEALs programs for underserved members of our community. Memberships are available. Art is for sale. Open to the public and family friendly.

📣 INTRODUCING: Summer Thursdays!!

This summer, the Center for Contemporary Arts is joining our downtown cultural partners for Summer Thursdays, a community-wide opportunity to explore Abilene’s incredible cultural destinations during extended evening hours.

While the CCA is always free to visit, several participating museums will also be offering FREE admission during this time!

📅 June 18 – August 6
⏰ Thursdays, 5–8 PM

The artistry behind a piece can be appreciated at first glance, but a closer look often reveals even more to admire!

Come and experience this first hand with Dismantling the Shadows, by Kari Perkins. On view through June 13.

Kari Perkins is an artist exploring the expressive potential of hand dyed silk, recycled materials and found objects. Her visual artworks, which include fiber, mixed-media pieces and installations, often feature a blend of vibrant colors, rich textures and unexpected forms. Her art invites viewers to experience a world where the tactile and visual merge, revealing the unique beauty found in the intersection of nature, memory and artistic exploration.

Seen/Unseen: A Visual Journey of Motherhood, Loss, and Healing is a collaborative art initiative that brings together mothers and local artists to honor the hidden and visible realities of motherhood—infertility, miscarriage, infant loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Through storytelling and creative interpretation, the project aims to spotlight and honor maternal experiences often kept in silence.

Motherhood is not a single experience—it is a landscape of joy, pain, and transformation. This project gives voice and visibility to those whose stories often go unheard, helping others feel seen, validated, and less alone.
