Meet Justine Lin in Studios 4 & 5.

A bit about Justine:
Justine Lin is a Taiwanese-American painter born in Feng-Yuan, Taichung, Taiwan. She earned her BFA from the National Institute of the Arts in Taipei and her MFA from the University of Georgia. Having moved between Taiwan and the United States, Lin draws on her experiences of shifting landscapes and cultural environments to explore perception, otherness, and the evolving sense of belonging.
Through layered surfaces, faceted structures, grids, and fragmented forms, Lin creates abstract paintings that hover between terrain, architecture, maps, and imagined places. Her current Suspended Structures series explores how a single form can hold multiple perspectives, and how our position shapes the ways we interpret the spaces and systems around us.
Lin is based in Andover, Massachusetts, and is a member of the Cambridge Art Association. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and group exhibitions throughout New England and beyond.

Meet Justine and explore her studio at the fiVO Studios Open Studios & Art Show Thursday October 22nd from 5-9pm. Hope to see you there!

Around 2003 she returned to painting and was able to obtain a studio at Western Avenue, Lowell in its early years. She has exhibited in Boston, Newburyport, North Andover, Gloucester, Rockport, and Lowell, MA. In December of 2024 she moved into the newly created studios at FIVO Studios in Dundee Park, Andover. Also, at a halfway house for women in Lawrence, she volunteers doing collage workshops.

As a painter, she is expressive with color and gesture and motivated by an undying love for the rich beauty hidden in the everyday world around us. Working at the intersection of representation and abstraction, she focuses on the natural dynamic of light, color, form and space to build vibrant imagery. Her mixed media work layers materials such as paint, glitter, buttons, shells, fabric, photos, printed paper and plastic packaging; revitalizing their personal and collective memories into a creative rebirth.

Meet Molly Foley from Studio 3 at fiVO Studios.

A few words from Molly about her art:

What is true? Is it possible there are many truths?
How does truth change over time, or with new perspective?

My work is a practice in processing lived experience. Through weaving, collage, felting, and altered book making, I explore the ways in which we create the stories of our lives and consider how healing can occur through what we create with our hands.

The transformative process of creation, change, and removal in bringing a project to life provides understanding that each narrative is alive and changeable, like a prism. Different angles highlight new colors and interpretations and inspire me to weave in new elements, remove pieces that are not working, combine mediums, and imagine new ways a tale can be told.

In creating visual representations of stories, I find the dramas become more grounded, more tangible, making it easier to be in conversation with the characters and the many perspectives that might arise. In this exploration I am able to find greater acceptance for myself and the broader world, knowing that our human journeys are a woven map of our individual and communal pasts, presents, and futures.

Come meet Molly and check out her amazing Studio at our next event on Thursday October 22nd from 5-9pm!

Meet in Studio 13.

A word from Sally:

My work explores memory, atmosphere, and the emotional residue embedded within
everyday life. Through layered surfaces composed of photographic fragments,
charcoal, thread, paper, and found materials, I construct images that move between
presence and concealment, documentation and abstraction. I am drawn to the ways
personal and collective histories remain partially visible beneath ordinary moments,
environments and human encounters.
Much of my work originates from experiences gathered during medical service trips
abroad, particularly in Vietnam and Nicaragua. Rather than functioning as
documentary records, these pieces emerge through recollection and emotional
reconstruction. Fragments of architecture, waterways, domestic spaces, children’s
drawings and human activity are layered within shifting surfaces that reflect the
instability of memory itself - how experiences are carried, obscured, revisited and
transformed over time.
My process is intentionally accumulative. Torn papers, stitched elements, transferred
imagery and weathered marks remain exposed allowing the physical construction of
the work to mirror the layered nature of lived experience. Hidden fragments and
partially obscured imagery often inhabit the surfaces, suggesting unseen psychological
and historical dimensions beneath visible life.
I am interested in ambiguity as a space of emotional truth. Rather than offering fixed
narratives, the work invites quiet reflection on fragility, endurance, connection, loss and
the lingering presence of human experience within place and memory.

Come meet Sally and explore her studio on Wednesday June 10 from 5-9pm at our open studios event. The event is FREE and open to the public. See you there!

Meet .art in Studios 7 & 8.

A little about Elena:

Elena Behrakis (b.1970; Lowell, MA. United States) is a Greek American visual artist who works primarily in oil. Her highly expressive figurative works are characterized by their rich texture, energy, and visible brushstrokes and marks. Elena’s style of painting is intuitive heightening the emotion in her pieces. The works are her direct relation to insulation, strength, invisibility, radiance, and vulnerability within the female experience.
With an extensive training in classical figurative art from Boston University and Yale University’s Norfolk Summer School of Art, Elena strives to grasp the essence of complex human emotions and physicality through color, light and gesture. She works within a process that allows for little opportunity to create a formula, as each mark is an unexpected reaction to her intention.
Late diagnoses in ADHD and Synesthesia play integral roles in the process of her work. The inquisitive, guttural, and instinctual ways she responds to each work allows for a pureness in thought and reaction. Inspired by the Neo-Expressionist and Brut Art movements, Elena’s work challenges to dissect and navigate towards poetic allusions, the Ancient Greek philosophy of Eudaimonia, and the raw human emotions that fluctuate between lightness, surface, depth and darkness.
Elena currently lives and works in Massachusetts. Her work can now be seen in exhibitions across the United States.

Come meet Elena in person at our open studios event Wednesday June 10 from 5-9pm.

Meet in Studio 3.

Get to know Molly:

I use my study of fiber art, sociology, and astrology to examine societal norms, nature as healer, and personal freedom. Through my personal and community fiber art practices I explore personal narrative and transformation.

Approaching life through a lens of perpetual movement provides understanding that each narrative is alive and changeable, like a prism. Different angles highlight new colors and interpretations and inspire me to combine mediums and imagine new ways a tale can be told.
