Throwback Thursday: Remembering this beautiful installation by Brent Baker, complemented by a serene Gwen Wong. Brent’s whimsical modernist abstractions are cleverly and beautifully presented in French-Rococo style frames painted white (instead of gold), mirroring the style in which modernist abstract art was presented in the middle of the last century. Beautiful!

Tracey Lane: “Alabaster.” Remember the story of Pygmalion—the sculptor who carved a statue so perfect that he fell in love with it? As the story goes, the goddess Aphrodite, feeling sorry for the hapless Pygmalion, brought his statue to life. Echoes of the myth pervade this contemporary but timeless painting.
