A painting begins in the studio, but that is rarely where its story ends.

One of the greatest joyes of being an artist is witnessing a work find its place in someone's life. A piece that once lived in my imagination becomes part of a home, a conversation, a morning ritual, a quiet moment at the end of the day.

Over time, collectors often tell me they discover new things in a painting they hadn't noticed before. A color, a feeling, a memory, a question.

That is what I love most about art.

The relationship continues long after the painting leaves the studio.

What do you want a piece of art to hold for you in the life you're building?

Traveling Through Space '05

I thought this painting was unfinished, until I saw it on the gallery wall.
In that moment, it became complete in a way I couldn’t see in the studio. It didn’t need more. It needed distance, light, and time.
It also revealed something I hadn’t fully noticed before: I have been painting bikes and umbrellas since I was very young. This was never just one painting or one idea, it has been a language I’ve been speaking for years without realizing it.
Some images don’t arrive. They return. Again and again. Until you finally recognize them as your own.

Welcome.

I’m Merita an international award winning artist, educator, and believer in beauty, curiosity, and human connection.

My journey has taken me from Kosovo to the United States, through exhibitions, classrooms, and life experiences that continue to shape my work.

Through it all, art has been my way of understanding the world.

The people who connect with my work are rarely just filling a wall.

They are seeking meaning, presence, and something that reflects their lived experience.

A painting can be more than a beautiful object.
It can be a reminder of who we areand how we choose to live.

Thank you for being here.

What draws you to live with art and how can I best support you in that journey?

One of the greatest privileges of being an artist is helping others discover their own creative voice.

Over the past few months, this project brought together students, community members, and a shared belief that art has the power to connect us, inspire us, and give back.

Watching these students grow in confidence, creativity, and collaboration has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

Art is never just about what we create. It's about the relationships we build, the stories we share, and the impact we leave behind.

Thank you to my dear students and everyone who helped make this project possible. ❤️

A gathering shaped by presence, memory, and shared humanity.
Created in collaboration with students from Bishop Timon High School, this large-scale painting reflects the quiet beauty of connection across generations, cultures, and experiences.
Around the table, belonging is felt, not spoken. A meal becomes more than food; it becomes care, dignity, and togetherness.

This work honors the table as a space where stories are shared, relationships are formed, and humanity meets in its most ordinary and sacred form.

Some moments stay with you forever.

What began as a classroom project became something much deeper. A moment of connection, pride, kindness, and shared humanity.

Watching this piece unveiled and seeing the emotional response in the room reminded me why art matters. It brings people together. It creates belonging. It gives young voices a chance to leave a lasting mark on their community.

There were smiles, tears, applause, and quiet moments of reflection. Not because of a painting alone, but because people felt the heart behind it.

So proud of these students and grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

For months, this piece was the heartbeat of the classroom. Shaped by many hands, many voices, and countless moments of creativity, trust, and collaboration.

UNVAILING WAS THIS SATURDAY 😃

Watching the reactions, the cheering, the pride in the room, and the students seeing their work honored in front of the community was something far beyond art. It was connection. It was belonging. It was proof that when young people are given space to create together, they can leave a lasting mark.
This painting is more than a work of art. It is a reflection of unity, dedication, and the power of community.
A moment none of us will forget.

More than an unveiling .
This was a moment about community, compassion, and giving back.

Watching these students walk on stage to applause and cheers was incredibly meaningful. Through art, they helped support the and showed what can happen when creativity is used to care for others.

So proud of every student who was part of this project and the heart they brought into it. This was only the beginning… the unveiling comes next. ✨

From classroom to installation… every step of this journey has been built with care, intention, and community support. Watching the painting come alive in the space. lifted into place, the lights installed, the veil carefully prepared is the final quiet moment before the unveiling.
A heartfelt thank you to the my students who workd relly head on this project, volunteers of South Buffalo Community Table, especially Mary Beth, Kathy, and Diane, for their time, energy, and dedication to this project. And to from and for volunteering your expertise to install the work with such care and precision.
Special gratitude to Dr. Newton for being one of our biggest champion of this work, and to my family for their understanding through countless late nights, weekends, and moments of absence while this vision came to life.

Grateful for every hand that helped bring this vision into the world.

See you at 11am for the unveiling.

Something has been quietly taking shape behind these classroom walls.
Layers of paint. Long afternoons. Shared moments. A story bigger than the canvas itself.
