Carmel Arts Council Sponsors Student Art Scholarship for upcoming Carmel International Arts Festival

Carmel, IN – The Carmel Arts Council will be sponsoring a $500 scholarship for one “Best of Show” art entry in the High School exhibit at the Carmel International Arts Festival (September 27 & 28). This award will be given in addition to the scholarships from the Carmel International Festival organization. According to Linda Lutes, Carmel Arts Council President, “We’re delighted to add our recognition for a talented high school artist. In fact, providing art scholarships and supplies for K-12 students is part of our mission.” In addition to awarding this $500 scholarship, the Carmel Arts Council will arrange for the selected art piece to be displayed at the World’s Smallest Children’s Art Gallery on Main Street.

Maintaining the Children’s Art Gallery has long been the focus of the Carmel Arts Council. The gallery, opened in January 1998, officially holds the Guinness World Book record as the “World’s Smallest Children’s Art Gallery”. Linda Lutes noted, “The primary purpose of the gallery is to assure that visual arts for children and young adults are front and center in our community.” The Carmel Arts Council encourages everyone to stop into the gallery and enjoy collections spotlighting art works from Carmel K-12 schools and items from Carmel’s Sister City in Kawachinagano, Japan.

Each fall, the Carmel International Art Festival (CIAF) returns to the Arts & Design District on Range Line and Main Street in Carmel bringing with it a multitude of artists and vendors that appeal to everyone. It truly is an educational experience.

The CIAF committee expects nearly 30,000 people to attend this year. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 28. You can learn more about the festival by visiting the website: https://carmelartsfestival.org/
