While our Carmel store was lucky to escape major damage from the May 6 fire next door, restoration will be a long process. We remain closed, possibly through the end of May.

If you plan to treat Mom to handcrafted art for Mother’s Day, we recommend these wonderful galleries where you can find Indiana Artisan work:

• CCA Gallery, Carmel
• Art IN Hand, Zionsville
• Artists’ Own, Lafayette
• Orchard Gallery, Fort Wayne
• By Hand, Bloomington
• Indiana Artisan shop in the French Lick Hotel

Thank you for your understanding and support during this time!

Skip the basic graduation gifts…this is one she’ll keep!

Whether she’s heading to Purdue University, Butler University, Indiana University, or just repping Indiana, Indy, Carmel, or Chicago…these neon signs are such a vibe.

Perfect for dorm rooms, apartments, and celebrating that “I did it” moment. 🎓

We are sorry to say our dear Carmel neighbor, Goodness Gracious, had a terrible fire today. Thankfully, no one was injured. Because smoke filtered into our store through the adjoining basement, we will be closed until a restoration company can clear out the bad air. Please keep the restaurant owners and staff in your thoughts, as will we.

You voted. Pluck won!

To celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday, about 30 artisans at this year’s Indiana Artisan Marketplace created art, food or beverages that said “Americana” to them. Guests voted Pluck, a cartoon taxidermy bald eagle by Wendy Simon, for the We the People, For the People’s Choice award.

Watch for Americana pieces stocking the Indiana Artisan stores in French Lick and Carmel in coming months.

More award winners from this year’s show: Best First-Year Booth, Alan Larkin, lithographs and etchings; Best Food Booth, Skyler Majors, Wildflower Ridge Honey; Best Art Booth, Rai Peterson, High Class Booker; and Best of Show, Mark Waninger, MLW Quality Wood Crafts. Congratulations to all these exceptional makers.

Prize-winning Pluck almost didn’t make it to the Marketplace because Wendy’s husband wanted to keep it for himself! 🤣

If you missed the show, save the date now for next year’s, March 20 and 21 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

A family walked into the Carmel shop recently asking for “the turtle.”

Their 15-month-old had seen it on a previous visit… and learned to say “turtle” because of it. When they came back, she pointed to the exact spot where it had been hanging and said it again!

Art speaks to us. And sometimes, we speak back to art - before we even have all the words.

Moments like this are a reminder of why Indiana Artisan exists:
To create connection. To spark something. To stay with people long after they leave the store.

To the artisan, Wendy Simon, who created that piece, thank you!
Your work made an impression far beyond what you could see.
