West Virginia Music Hall of Fame The mission of the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame:
• Recognition - inducting important West Virginians. We welcome your input and ideas.

The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization designed to document and recognize the rich and lasting contributions West Virginians have made to all genres of music. The nominating process for the first round of inductees began in spring, 2007.
• Education – offering themed displays, curriculum and speakers to schools around the state.
• Preserving - collecting and preserving e

xisting sound recordings.
• Collection - collecting and displaying memorabilia. Objectives include:
• Educating people about state artists and reinforcing that a career in the arts is both viable and valuable.
• Presenting lectures, workshops and performances.
• Creating a catalog of LPs and tapes from West Virginia artists and archiving them in a format that will be easily accessible to the public.
• Establishing a building fund for a permanent facility which will include a museum and performance hall, a sidewalk of "stars" around the facility and a shop that will feature CDs by state musicians . Please email us with your suggestions. Also, we are looking for loans or donations of any memorabilia relating to any facet of the WV music scene. This site will post news and developments, so check back often for updates. The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is a tax-exempt corporation; all donations are tax deductible.

🎶 Big news for West Virginia music lovers! 🎶

West Virginia Music Hall of Fame The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is hosting its 11th annual Garden Party this Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the South Charleston Farmer’s Market.

Here is what makes this year extra special:

A Special Tribute: Kori Withers will be performing a musical tribute to her legendary father, Bill Withers. 💛✨

Live Performances: Catch sets from current Hall of Famers Larry Groce, Bob Thompson, Ann Magnuson, and John Ellison.

Sneak Peek: The event will introduce the upcoming 2027 class of inductees!

Bring the family out for live music, food trucks, drink vendors, and inflatables. Admission is a suggested $20 donation to support local music history.

A vocal R&B group from Beckley, West Virginia - Reuben Siggers (Piano & Vocals), Ephraim Siggers (Vocals & Trumpet), Billy Jo Mimms (Sax & Vocals), Bernard Byars (Vocals) (in the photo). The musicians of the group were Robert Mosley (Drums), William Tyler (Guitar) & Bill Scott (Sax).

Musicians! I’ll be having a conversation tomorrow with jazz pianist and West Virginia Music Hall of Fame member Bob Thompson with a focus on musical improvisation. We call it “Keys to Improvisation.” 😎

This workshop will consist of dialogue, Q&A, and musical performance and demonstration. 6pm tomorrow at Folklore Music Exchange. Hope you can join us. Tickets are limited.

"10-Alarm Fire: We Won't Shut Up" (2025)
This film documents the legendary chorus of 80-plus-year-oldsters’ concert featuring a deep selection of protest songs from Woody Guthrie and Public Enemy to Mavis Staples and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

There will be live - and like-minded - music from Bob Thompson, Larry Groce, Julie Adams, and The Carpenter Ants.
