Jamie Crockett is a mom, a midwife, a New Mexico Wilderness Alliance employee and a wife to an outfitter. She’s finishing her bachelor’s in psychology and working toward becoming a licensed counselor. “What I love most about midwifery is counseling,” she says.
Last spring, Jamie presented her research about the psychological experience of women in their pregnancies at a Western Psychological Association conference. “My study evaluated women’s experiences of their prenatal care and childbirth experiences and how those may or may not correlate with rates of postpartum depression. I found significant correlations,” she says.
Jamie’s minor is art — a subject she explores on her own. This semester, she took drawing. “I was a little intimidated to take the class, but it’s pushing me try things I normally wouldn’t and that’s reflecting on the painting I do at home,” she says.
After graduating next spring, Jamie will apply to online graduate programs.
