Custom baseball for the dear friend of a dear friend. If I’m doing the math right, I think that makes us friends.

Handmade from an old pair of boots. Each panel is cut from the side and back quarters retaining factory markings. The woven label was transferred from the back side of the tongue and sewn to the north panel on the ball. The salvaged tongue material was used on the box top. I love how the years of work and service have created burnished lines from the laces and creases and scuffs across the surfaces. Super cool project that calls for a big thank you to John for the opportunity. If this snow ever melts, I hope Eric has a chance to toss it around with his kids.

The Mitchells know how to party. Custom baseballs with two color foil embellishments. Ooo la la. Met these fine folks Bridge Fest, so naturally the color scheme is a nod to Pittsburgh. Color registration is not an easy task and these have the added difficulty of the family crest being laid down in two color hot foil. Very pleased with how they came out.

One of the great joys of my job is helping people celebrate the lives of loved ones. Some of those people have just arrived with tears of joy and others have left with tears of sadness. This ball, and four others like it, was made from a glove that was worn by a father and grandfather who left an indelible mark. He’s not around to play catch anymore, but his family can play catch with him wherever they are. For privacy reasons, I’ve omitted some of the cooler details here - like the large ink name that spans an entire panel, and his phone number below it. Other details, like the palm lining with a worn-in impression of his hand are evidence of a life well lived.
