Over 40 artists of Lillstreet Studios celebrate the Art of Craft and the Craft of Art making one piece at a time. The second and third floors at Lillstreet Art Center, otherwise known as Lillstreet Studios, is bursting with makers working in mixed media, clay, metals, painting/drawing, collage and so much more. Lillstreet Art Center is open to public daily, and therefore, so are many studios! If a

door is open, you are welcome to go in, introduce yourself, and get acquainted with the many artists in our vibrant community. Consider yourself invited!

Submissions are now open for Material Bodies: Identities in Clay. Hosted by , this 2nd Annual Ceramic exhibit explores the human form as both presence and a container of experience to examine identity, memory, and transformation. Through surface, gesture, and form, the works reveal how material carries personal and collective stories - holding traces of strength, vulnerability, and resilience.

We invite ceramic artists based in the Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin to submit work responding to the theme Material Bodies for an upcoming second annual, juried exhibition at Oliva Gallery in Chicago, IL.

Robert Sedestrom, our long time member, originally a ceramic artist extraordinaire, now a painter, gets a spotlight because of his big birthday.

Robert Sedestrom was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lives and works in Chicago, Illinois. He received a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Michigan and a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has received grants and fellowships from National Endowment for the Arts, the Organization of American States, USAID, and the Research Foundation of the State of New York. He has held residencies in The Netherlands, Israel, and Morocco as well as the Kohler Corporation in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. His work is in major collections, public and private, in Europe, Mideast, and the United States.

On Friday, we had a joyous birthday celebration for our dear studio member Robert Sedestrom. 🎂🎉🥳🎈
Old friends were reunited. Corinne Peterson came cruising in her new Cadillac and made everyone jealous.
In conjunction with his big birthday,
check out Robert’s Retrospective exhibition in the second floor hallways of his 6’x6’ paintings and the stories attached. They are quite a delight. On view, also his sculptural boxes. I will make a separate post of the show. Here are the party photos. 🎉🎊🎉🎊
