Join us on Thursday, May 14, at 6pm, for an evening with the House of Dov. The Chicago-based dance company will be performing its new sketch, Three Generations of Women, in conjunction with Barbara Nessim’s work on view in our galleries. Choreographed by Drew Lewis, this movement study, made in reverence to the lineage of women in Lewis’ family, explores the paradoxical ways in which the artist feels both included in and excluded from the nesting doll of womanhood. Three Generations of Women is a portrait, wrapping itself in ancestry, in things handed down: stories, artifacts, and genes.

Art has the unique power of interrogating, inspiring, and uniting our community. As we look ahead to the future of DePaul’s art collection, we invite you to celebrate the collection’s rich history and take a moment to be present with the artwork.

DPAM’s student staff wishes to embrace the spirit of change with an emphasis that artwork as a resource must always come first. Curated with input from DePaul students, staff, alumni, and the public, this exhibition aims to highlight the strength, interconnectedness, and resilience of Chicago’s arts community. Whether you are an artist, a student, a teacher, or a visitor, there is something in this show for you.

Apply here: https://depaul.academicworks.com/opportunities/56087

Throughout the year, the Arthur D. James Fellow will work with the Collection Manager to conduct research on items and artists in the collection, assist in an ongoing digitization project, help create and clean records in the collections database, and assist in class collection visits. The Fellow will gain knowledge in how to digitize collection items, use a collections database, and understand the basics of collections management. This work will be accompanied by other duties as assigned and needed by the Collection Manager. In addition, staff will help arrange informational interviews with other museum professionals to help broaden the Fellow’s network based on their career interests. This fellowship is open to DePaul juniors, seniors, and graduate students in all majors.
