UP NEXT AT THE GALLERY: Liz Mateson’s ‘Shaky Castles’ is on view May 15–June 14 with a reception taking place on Saturday May 16, 5–7pm.

“Currently, my work is focusing in on the shared experience of being a woman. With my work I hope to evoke thoughts of assumed fragility and hidden strength, the push and pull between the social constructs of toughness and tenderness. The interplay of the power to overcome and the power to oppress is important in my works, some pieces being visceral and in your face while others offer a more subversive and subtle experience like that of the undercurrents and unspoken truths of a culture. I hope that my work can share with another the feelings of being seen, and heard, that it might spark thoughts for those without a woman’s perspective that the themes in my work are felt by almost all women.”

It’s our annual members invitational show!

​THIS YEAR’S GUIDELINES: Each member gets 2’x2‘square or 2’x2’x2’ 3-D space. That is, you get two-by-two square feet of wall space (for one thing or many but 2x2 total) OR two by two-by-two feet of space for sculpture. Must be ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers, please. Must be for sale, maximum price: $107.80. Each sale is divided 50/50 so that the artist gets 50% and so does 1078. All current or renewal member submissions accepted. You may join or renew at time of submission.
