๐ŸŽ‰ Now Listed in the National Register of Historic Places!

We are excited to celebrate The President Apartments, officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 21, 2026!

Located at Reading Road and Greenwood Avenue in Avondale/North Avondale, The President opened in 1928. A Cincinnati Enquirer advertisement announcing its opening promoted the new building as โ€œan entirely new idea in Completely Furnished Apartments,โ€ offering residents modern amenities and apartment living just minutes from downtown.

Nearly a century later, The President remains an important part of Cincinnatiโ€™s residential and architectural history. Its National Register listing recognizes both its historical and architectural significance and its place within the broader story of apartment development in Cincinnati.

Today, The President is owned by the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and continues to serve the community as affordable housing.

Its listing also demonstrates how preservation and housing can work together. Historic buildings like The President can continue to evolve and serve new generations while retaining the architecture and history that make our neighborhoods distinctive.

From a modern new apartment building in 1928 to affordable housing today, The President has been part of Cincinnati life for nearly 100 years.
