🚑 It’s EMS Week! 🚑

This week, we proudly celebrate the incredible men and women who serve on the front lines of emergency medical care in our community. Your dedication, skill, and compassion save lives every single day. We are so grateful. ❤️

Join us as we honor this important week with something special…

Beginning now, we’re offering daily tours of the Nation’s First Mobile Coronary Care Unit — THE HEARTMOBILE!

Launched in 1969, this groundbreaking program changed everything. By bringing life-saving cardiac care directly to patients before they reached the hospital, it dramatically improved outcomes, and ultimately helped lay the foundation for modern EMS systems across the United States.

🚨 NEW: Starting this week, the Heartmobile will be featured as part of our 2:15 PM daily tour!

Come celebrate EMS Week with us, step inside history, and see how innovation from the past continues to save lives today.

📍 We can’t wait to welcome you!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Rogers Krajnak Architects Principal Peter Krajnak for this amazing and truly unique gift.

We are honored to be the recipients of a birdhouse-sized replica of our historic Engine House 16. This thoughtful gesture reflects both generosity and a deep appreciation for our mission of preserving history.

We are incredibly grateful and look forward to continuing a strong and meaningful working relationship.

The anniversary of the Ohio State Penitentiary Fire- the deadliest prison fire in our nations history.

On April 21, 1930, a fire broke out at the Ohio Penitentiary, killing 322 inmates, injuring more than 130 others, and trapping many people inside their cells. The incident is recognized as the deadliest prison fire in American history.

At the time, the penitentiary was severely overcrowded, housing more than twice the number of inmates it was designed to hold. Although the exact cause of the fire has been debated, the disaster led state officials to address prison conditions and overcrowding. In the aftermath, the Ohio Parole Board was established in 1931.
