Lichtenstein's opened their fourth downtown location at 401 N.Chaparral December 6, 1941,at the time of the opening it would carry traditional department store merchandise, but also incorporate a furniture department, this was on the corner of Mesquite and Lawrence, it was located in what used to be the former Bidwell Hotel. It was a store like no other, the owners focused on service and fine merchandise, it was one of very few department stores to open and have the offerings and amenities that other stores had added as time progressed but Lichtenstein's had them from inception in the new building.
