The 2nd Friday ArtAbout is a monthly self-guided art walk of receptions at galleries, art studios, and businesses in Davis.

This free event takes place on the second Friday night of each month, typically from 6-9 PM, although hours vary depending upon the venue. Attendees can chat with featured artists, purchase work, and enjoy other activities such as live music, performances, and complimentary wine and refreshments. All are welcome to explore downtown Davis and our thriving arts community. Participation varies monthly for the ArtAbout, but there are typically 10+ venues that display paintings, photography, ceramics, sculptures, jewelry, and more. Many of these venues are businesses who kindly invite artists to display their work in their space. Discover local and regional talent, new artistic styles, and unique creations while experiencing the vibrancy of downtown with friends. The ArtAbout Guide includes images and information about artists on view and is a great source for what’s happening in town for the whole month. The Guide is ready early the week of 2nd Friday and will be posted here. Printed copies are available at that time at most participating venues such as The Artery, Logos Books, and the Pence Gallery. As of November 2021, the 2nd Friday ArtAbout event is coordinated by the Pence Gallery. The ArtAbout is currently sponsored by Signature Sponsor Willowgrove & the Davis Downtown Business Association. If you have questions or want to participate, email Jenna Matsubara at [email protected]. This 2nd Friday ArtAbout page shares detailed info about the ArtAbout, and we invite artists and the community to connect and share ArtAbout announcements and images.

Third Space Art Collective presents: Faces! Inspired by an animation with the same name created by Katerina Hanks, Faces is a show all about - well faces! The theme is simple, but the artists were able to get as abstract or realistic as they wanted, including with the mediums. Don't miss the opening reception this Friday, Oct. 9 from 6-9 PM.

New show at Logos Books! World’s Edge is created using the broad concepts of chaos and order. The watercolor medium lends itself to chaos. Artist Christine Shackel brings order to the piece by manipulating the randomness inherent in the medium into her own cosmic vision. Join for the 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception this week on Oct. 9th, from 6-8 PM.
