JOIN US TODAY! FREE RI250 Concert on the Varnum House Museum Lawn featuring Lafayette Band - Rhode Island

And the weather is perfect! Tonight at 5:00 PM, the Lafayette Band will perform an "RI250 Concert on the Lawn" to celebrate Rhode Island’s role in shaping American history! They'll play a special program including patriotic and popular selections. The second hour of the night features walking tours of our Historic Preservation Gardens and tours of the Varnum House Museum! Admission is free. Please bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

If you can't join us tonight for the "Concert on the Lawn", then please visit us from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM today for open house tours of the Varnum House Museum.

FREE RI250 Concert on the Varnum House Museum Lawn featuring RI's Lafayette Band

Enjoy a warm summer night of free live music on the Varnum House Museum's historic grounds! On Sunday, June 21, the Lafayette Band - Rhode Island will perform for our "RI250 Concert on the Lawn" to celebrate Rhode Island’s role in shaping American history over 250 years! Starting at 5:00 PM, the Lafayette Band will play a special program that includes patriotic and popular selections prepared by Music Director Charles Johnson. The second hour of the night features walking tours of our Historic Preservation Gardens and tours of the Varnum House Museum!

The nonprofit Lafayette Band was founded more than 140 years ago, making it one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Its mission is to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Performances feature patriotic and classical music, show tunes, marches and more, led by Music Director Charles Johnson. Admission is free.

Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Join us at the Varnum House Museum, 57 Peirce St., East Greenwich, RI on Sunday, June 21!

At the Varnum Armory Museum, the historic 1695 Bristol Co. Militia flag was safely packed and moved from the armory to the Bristol Historical & Preservation Society for a short-term exhibit there. Being the oldest flag in America, great care was taken in moving and displaying this incredibly rare and historic artifact. Here we see Armory VP, Maria Vazquez, manage the effort with Armory intern Jack Fallon. We are happy to share this amazing artifact.
