Meet Dr. Gilda Battaglia Rorro Baldassari and her daughter, Dr. Mary Rorro, who were recently honored as New Jersey Hall of Fame Everyday Heroes on May 2 at American Dream. 💛✨

This inspiring mother-daughter duo has made kindness and service part of their legacy. Dr. Rorro Baldassari has devoted her life to education, cultural advocacy, and the preservation of Italian-American heritage, earning honors including the title of Cavaliere Knight of the Republic of Italy and the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Federation of Italian-American Societies of New Jersey. 👏

Dr. Rorro continues that legacy as a psychiatrist, musician, and healer, using medicine and the power of music to comfort patients, support veterans, and serve communities across the Garden State. 🎶🩺 She composed a heartfelt song for her mom entitled “A Mother’s Love.” 💐

Their story is a chorus of love, service, and legacy, and today, on National Say Something Nice Day, we declare that New Jersey is better because of heroes like them!🌟

Today, we pause to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

We are grateful to the service members who gave everything in defense of our country, as well as the families and communities who continue to carry their legacy forward. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

At the New Jersey Hall of Fame, we also recognize the power of storytelling and remembrance in honoring those who have shaped our history and inspired future generations.

May we reflect today with gratitude, respect, and remembrance, now and always. ❤️💙

Happy Nurses Week! 💙 Did you know there are over 197,000 licensed nurses in New Jersey? This week, we’re proud to share the story of Clara Maass, a New Jersey hero whose bravery and compassion continue to inspire generations.

Born in East Orange, Clara Maass (Class of 2017) dedicated her life to caring for others. By just 19, she had become a nurse, later serving with the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War.
