Today is the day! We are now open for the season and offering tours daily from 1 to 4 PM.

Our campus houses a diverse collection of historic structures. At it's heart is the 1772-1773 home that served as a tavern and headquarters for British and Continental forces during the Revolution .It is one of the oldest wood frame houses still standing in the area. Our three-acre campus includes five other historic buildings preserved to represent eras of American life from pre-Revolutionary days through World War II, with exhibits including a model of French and Indian War-era Fort Edward, The Solomon Northup room, Victorian era home furnishings, an extensive collection of Fort Edward Pottery, and so much more!

We can't wait to show you how we are keeping history alive here in Fort Edward📜

We were extra lucky to be at lock 7 on the Champlain Canal this morning with a field trip just as the vessel came through the lock on it's way North to Canada. These 7th grade students from .are.the.scots got to see the lock in action🚢

We took the museum into the classroom today for Colonial Day at Hudson Falls Central Schools Intermediate school! Executive Director Paul McCarty gave students a presentation on the history of Sandy Hill/Hudson Falls, including sharing some historic photos of familiar places. Fort Edward Historical Association President Elizabeth O'Leary told students the French and Indian War era ghost story of Duncan Campbell who was wounded in the battle of Fort Ticonderoga, and ultimately died and was buried in Fort Edward.

These school programs are a fundamental part of our mission to preserve history and promote education. We are the proud recipients of a Stewart's Shops Holiday Match Grant, which supports these efforts. We are so grateful for this contribution, we could not keep history alive for our local students without it!

We had a great night last night at the Glens Falls Symphony for their season ending event premiering Knox: “Can(n)ons of Freedom” by world renown composer Chris Brubeck. This work paid homage to the heroic colonists who carried the cannons from Ticonderoga down Lake George and on to Boston with a uniquely American touch.

We were proud to join our friends at Washington County Historical Society of New York, Chapman Museum, and Ulysses S. Grant Cottage State Historic Site & National Historic Landmark in the Assembly Hall to represent our local history institutions. We loved chatting with symphony patrons and look forward to seeing some of you at the museum soon!
