แง ฯฯ Oษณาฝ Vฮนฦฦฯษพแงฮฑ Sฯาฝฦฦษพาฝ opening Saturday, June 27 from 3โ6 PM.
The opening will feature the premiere of M. Lamarโs newly commissioned performance ๐ผ๐๐๐ผ ๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐พ๐๐๐๐, in dialogue with Blake's project. Renowned artist M. Lamar works across opera, metal, performance, video, sculpture, and installation to craft sprawling narratives of radical becomings.
"Hฮฑฯ
ษณฦ," Blakeโs first outdoor installation, draws upon the history of the ornamental hermitโa novelty of the 18th and 19th centuries in which a wealthy landowner would hire a man to live alone on their estate for seven years, forbidden from speaking or cutting their hair, performing a fantasy of simpler life predating the Industrial Revolution. Victorya Spectre, Blake's alter ego, lurks on Art Omiโs grounds, a cross between a sibyl and a cryptid, a mysterious creature dispensing fragments of insight from their studio/nest. Victorya has answers, but they may just not be the right ones. Part classroom, part lounge, part farm stand, part abandoned amusement park ride, the work raises questions about fantasy, labor, aging, and the conditions of daily life.
Free public shuttles will run from Pocketbook Hudson to Art Omi from 3โ7 PM on June 27 in 30-minute intervals.
