We are open today from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Be sure to sign up for the cemetery tour later this month, there are three dates to choose from and learn more about Grass Lake history through the lives of past residents.

We were at Ocktober Fest in Grass Lake yesterday. We were happy to talk about local history with visitors to our booth. People really enjoyed the plat maps from 1874 and 1911.

Postcard from the Coe House Collection sent in 1903, published by the Michigan Calendar Company, Detroit Michigan. We are open today, September 26th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This postcard from 1910 shows a cottage on Big Wolf Lake and the casino can

Another postcard from a donated scrapbook shows the village of Francisco. The postcard was sent in 1906 and at this time Francisco had a railroad depot, stores, churches and a schoolhouse besides residences.

This postcard is a recent addition to our archives from a donated scrapbook. It was sent to a then resident of Grass Lake in 1902. It was colorized in Germany and distributed in Jackson. Clearly seen in the picture is the Well Block which housed the post office and to the right a millinery shop. Fashionable patrons could purchase hats with feathers, lace, ribbons and bows. Other items for sale were scarves, hair accessories, veils and gloves. Pictured are some of the clothing from the period in our collection.

Yesterday we had visitors from the Comstock Community Center. Our visitors always ask great questions and share insights on our exhibits. They were especially interested in some of the tools and items in our newly restored shed/barn. If you are a group interested in a tour give us a call.
