Save the date for our most popular fundraiser, returning for another season on September 25.Sample curated food & wine pairings, toast with new and old friends, and help raise money to support GFS’ mission of making the arts accessible to all.

This summer, visit the gardens during golden hour. On the last Friday of the month from May through August, we will be offering $5 tickets from 5-9PM! GFS members can access their usual member benefits and are also welcome to bring as many guests as they’d like for $5 each.

Art Encounters tours are back this summer! Get to know our newest acquisitions on these informal, engaging pop-up tours in the garden led by GFS staff. Education and Curatorial staff will lead a conversation exploring the artist’s intent, materials, and context- no registration needed!

Upcoming Art Encounters will feature ‘Ruins of Empire II or the Earth Swallows the Master’s House’ by Kiyan Williams on June 5, ‘Medusa’ by Anthony Caro on July 11, and ‘Caminantes/Wayfarers’ by Salvador Jimenez-Flores on August 6.

Congratulations to Roberto Lugo on his newest public art exhibition, ‘Alfarero del Barrio (Village Potter)’ in Madison Square Park! Commissioned by Madison Square Park Conservancy and fabricated in partnership with Johnson Atelier, these monumental sculptures celebrate Puerto Rico’s rich history and culture and invite community interaction and play.

‘Alfarero del Barrio’ will be on view through December 6, 2026. Check it out next time you’re in New York!

Stroller tours are back for another season!

Each Tuesday morning in June, join us from 11AM-12PM for a 30 minute stroll through the gardens with a GFS docent, then head into the studio for a creative artmaking activity. This program is designed for families with children ages 0-3.

Our newest exhibition ‘Opening the Vault: A Look Inside the GFS Collection’ is now open!

Visit the Domestic Arts Building to experience the breadth of GFS’ permanent collection, curated collaboratively by staff who live and breathe the institution every day. Spanning 70 years of work, the exhibition features 29 unique sculptures from 24 different artists and embodies GFS’ commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and shared creativity.
