Framing Friday!
Focus: Vintage posters, in honor of tomorrow’s poster show at Hammerfriar.
When I was in my 20s, I landed a job with a vintage poster business run out of a small office space in Oakland. The owner, Elizabeth Norris, and I traveled up and down the state, showing original posters at antiques shows and design events - (you may have seen us at the Healdsburg Plaza! Last slide, us at LA Modernism).
Historical posters are how I got interested in paper preservation and frame design, and connected with my framing mentor, Glenn Young, (us delivering to the Pixar campus, second to last slide).
Framing vintage posters is fun, creative, and can span the gamut on design approaches! I have a client that frames every poster in a simple, ebonized walnut and her collection looks amazing. I have another collector where if we don’t stack at least three mouldings, it’s not “finished.” I have worked with the kindest, most fun collectors along the way.
Enjoy! And come visit and learn from our collection of original vintage posters tomorrow, 10-5p.
