The High Springs Historical Society and Museum second annual Veterans Day event to honor our Veterans.
November 11, 1918: Major hostilities of World War I ended with an armistice on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
June 1, 1954: Following World War II and the Korean War, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation officially changing the name to Veterans Day to honor all U.S. military veterans.
Our service by tradition will be November 11th at 11AM.
Location: The Summit Baptist Church, US HWY 441.

Here is your invitation to join us at the Historical Society.
Our Museum has been open every Saturday from February 2025 to present, with a couple exceptions.
We would love to expand our days to open with your help.
What would you do? We heed help not just manning the museum, but people that are equipped in communications for our social media and promotion of the Museum, doing research and so many other things that we would be able to do with your help.

Good Morning,
We are continuing our Early Christmas Shopping at the Museum today. Many items to choose from.

The people of our community are donating items of history for us to display as well.
Recently a local resident Kay Yates came to the Museum and we spent nearly three hours with her. Her family came to High Springs in the 1800's, before the Civil War. She is of the Richardson family, which is one of the original founding families here. Her Grandfather was one of the people who built the Great Outdoors.
Others in her family worked for the Railroad.

Today is National Farm Day

The High Springs Museum received donations to pass on to the public. There are many items to choose from. We will have some of the items at the Museum tomorrow.
Some of the items are:
Star Wars figures, small and large
Star Trek figures, small and large
Kiss Band figures
Hot wheels and matchbox cars
Large scale 1/16 cars and trucks
Hess tanker trucks
Lionel/Corgi vehicles
Halmark Collector ornaments
These items are all new in original packaging.
All item prices are considered donations.
We are a all volunteer non-profit organization.
We are at work to preserve our local history.

This was the High Springs City Hall. This building was in the same place the current City Hall is now.
I wonder how many people worker there. Anyone know?

Jim Douglas Sales and Service is having their 100 year celebration tomorrow, October 3rd from 12-3 PM.
Come and join us and be a part of our local history.
This doesn't happen very often.

This is what is going on this weekend. The weather is going to be wonderful on Saturday.
You can attend the Fall Festival, including the Circus train layout at the Farmers Market Pavilion and also go the our Museum, all within walking distance. Don't forget the stores and restaurants on Main Street.
